CAPITAL MANAGEMENT ACTUARY – LIFE – BERMUDA – 10% TAX – HR106

About this opportunity

Our client, a Bermuda-based specialist life reinsurer, is seeking a Capital Management Actuary to play an important role in supporting the company's business strategy. Reporting to the Chief Actuary, this role offers the opportunity to work across multiple entities and gain in-depth knowledge and experience in various products and regulatory frameworks

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Manage the Companies’ regulatory balance sheets, monitor solvency resilience, and provide insights into capital efficiency for strategic initiatives and new business opportunities
  • Provide actuarial support for Bermuda-oriented ad-hoc investigations and strategic projects
  • Independently review pricing assumptions for new business and recommend adjustments to ensure consistency with the Group’s Pricing Standards
  • Produce Management Information packs for Boards and Committees
  • Assist with oversight of internal reinsurance arrangements, ensuring contractual obligations are met and collaborating with various teams to structure and implement new arrangements
  • Ensure the ongoing integrity of actuarial valuation systems and models, and the effectiveness of all relevant actuarial controls

What you’ll need

  • Recently qualified Life Actuary, with experience in UK, US, European, and/or Canadian pension risk transfer business preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, apply, interpret, and effectively communicate technical aspects of complex financial and business transaction information
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing efficient, robust, and effective actuarial processes with appropriate controls
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic, market, and regulatory environment
  • Excellent relationship management skills with peers and senior management, ideally including international stakeholder management in a global organization
  • Ability to apply strategic judgment and pragmatism to achieve business aims, taking a balanced view and considering potential risks
