In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Deliver rapid and accurate engine diagnostics and repairs by identifying faults efficiently and completing less complex repairs at customer sites, helping maximize equipment uptime and productivity.
- Provide an exceptional customer experience by engaging customers professionally, responding promptly to their needs, and building trust through reliable service delivery.
- Ensure first-time fix success by utilizing specialized diagnostic tools, following Cummins repair procedures, and preparing the correct parts and equipment before work begins.
- Support equipment reliability through preventive maintenance by performing scheduled inspections and servicing activities that reduce unplanned breakdowns and extend asset life.
- Contribute to effective problem resolution by recognizing when technical issues require escalation and collaborating with senior technicians and supervisors to achieve the best customer outcome.
- Maintain accurate service documentation by completing service reports, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality records, ensuring compliance and supporting operational excellence.
- Identify additional customer service opportunities by recognizing maintenance, repair, or replacement needs that improve equipment performance and strengthen customer relationships.
- Promote a safe and professional work environment by adhering to all Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements while maintaining service vehicles, tools, and equipment in excellent working condition.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Master Cummins Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Become highly proficient in using INSITE, QuickServe Online, service manuals, and diagnostic procedures to accurately identify faults and perform repairs on Cummins engines and related systems.
- Build Strong Technical Repair Skills: Develop the ability to independently perform intermediate-level engine repairs, maintenance, component replacement, disassembly/assembly, and progressive damage assessments while knowing when to escalate complex issues to senior experts.
- Prioritize Safety, Quality, and Efficiency: Consistently complete maintenance and repair work safely, correctly, and within standard repair times, minimizing customer downtime and ensuring equipment is returned to reliable operating condition.
- Maintain Excellent Documentation and Communication: Produce accurate service reports, work orders, warranty documentation, and troubleshooting records, while clearly explaining findings, repair recommendations, and service opportunities to customers and supervisors.
- Understand Heavy Equipment and Customer Environments: Gain experience with mining, construction, power generation, and heavy-duty equipment applications, and develop a customer-focused mindset to deliver professional field service support in demanding environments.
Education/ Experience
- Vocational Diploma, National Certificate, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Diesel Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in diesel engine maintenance, field service, workshop repairs, or heavy equipment maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel, air, lubrication, cooling, electrical, and electronic control systems.
- Ability to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair diesel engines and related equipment.
- Demonstrated commitment to HSE standards, safe work practices, professional customer service, and possession of a valid driver's license.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
