Accountabilities:
- Own outcomes for platform operations functions, ensuring reliability and performance across critical infrastructure environments.
- Lead, develop, and support engineering managers responsible for operational excellence and productivity initiatives.
- Build and oversee a senior engineering team focused on solving high-impact technical challenges and accelerating strategic initiatives.
- Identify opportunities where specialized engineering support can provide maximum organizational leverage, from new initiatives to urgent production challenges.
- Establish clear metrics, operating rhythms, and processes that enable predictable delivery without relying on unsustainable individual effort.
- Personally contribute technical judgment through architecture reviews, distributed systems discussions, productivity improvements, and incident response planning.
- Drive measurable improvements in engineering efficiency, development workflows, and software delivery processes.
- Partner with engineering leaders and stakeholders to align priorities, communicate progress, and influence technical strategy.
- Support the adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools and practices to improve team productivity and innovation.
- Build a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence across engineering teams.
- Extensive experience designing, building, and scaling distributed systems personally, not only through managed teams.
- Proven track record leading engineering operations, production reliability, and incident management at significant scale.
- Experience driving measurable engineering productivity improvements across multiple teams or organizations.
- Strong understanding of software development workflows, platform engineering, and operational trade-offs.
- Experience managing multiple engineering managers or leading several technical functions simultaneously.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical decision-making.
- Strong judgment in applying AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency and outcomes.
- Experience making thoughtful staffing decisions and building high-performing, intentionally scaled teams.
- Ability to quickly switch between different technical challenges, including infrastructure operations, productivity initiatives, and crisis response.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and explain complex technical concepts clearly.
