Limited License Radiography Instructor- Workforce Development

Job Summary: The Limited License Radiography Instructor of the Poynor School of Health Care Innovation plays a critical role in shaping the future of healthcare education in the Pee Dee Region. This role will plan, deliver, and evaluate instruction for high school students, preparing them with the knowledge and skills for certification and healthcare employment. A Limited License Radiology (or Limited Scope) Instructor guides allied health professionals and students in operating X-ray equipment, patient positioning, and radiation safety. Their core responsibilities include delivering curriculum, managing clinical training, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and mentoring students. 

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, and workshops focused on guest services, patient support, environmental management, communication and coordination, and problem solving. 
• Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical demonstrations.
• Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to help students improve their skills and understanding.
• Manage program logistics, such as scheduling classes, field trips, and other program-related activities.
• Teaching the fundamentals of X-ray production, human anatomy, physiology, and image production.
• Instructing students on healthcare vocabulary, word structures, and abbreviations, often preparing them for careers in the medical field
• Leading hands-on lab simulations and coordinating externships at outpatient clinics or urgent care centers.
• Training students to adhere to strict ⁠ASRT Practice Standards, which include proper use of lead shielding, minimizing dose, and monitoring personal radiation exposure

Education:

• Associate’s degree in radiologic technology or closely related allied health field
• Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and a valid SC state license.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of two years of experience working as a radiography technician.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage and motivate students.
• Ability to effectively manage a classroom environment.
• Patience, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and strong leadership abilities are crucial for guiding students and fostering a supportive learning environment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
• Must be knowledgeable of and able to follow the standards of federal, state and regulatory agencies and DNV/DHEC.
