Vice President, Medical Safety

Reporting to the Chief Quality Officer, the Vice President of Medical Safety is a critical senior leadership role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, reliability, and safety for all our diagnostic testing services. This executive will provide strategic leadership for the company's medical safety function, ensuring our processes meet and exceed all regulatory and clinical standards. The ideal candidate will champion a culture of excellence and accountability, safeguard the integrity of our results, and protect patient safety.
This is a remote-based assignment.
Diagnostic Accuracy: Ensure initiatives to guarantee the analytical and clinical accuracy and reliability of Quest Diagnostics' full portfolio of testing services, from pre-analytical to post-analytical phases.
Quality & Safety Oversight: Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive medical safety program. Drive a culture where patient safety and result integrity are paramount.
Regulatory Compliance: Act as a key liaison with regulatory bodies on matters of medical safety.
Incident Management: Lead and direct investigations into any reported inaccuracies, adverse events, or quality deviations related to our diagnostic results. Implement corrective and preventive action plans (CAPAs) to address root causes.
Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with executive leadership, R&D, and operations to integrate medical safety and quality considerations into the development and launch of new diagnostic products and services.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for test accuracy and patient safety. Utilize AI and data analytics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
A Medical Degree (MD or DO) with valid medical licensure is required.
A background in clinical pathology or laboratory medicine is strongly preferred.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in a senior leadership role within the clinical diagnostics, medical device, or a related healthcare industry.
A proven track record of developing and implementing successful quality and safety programs that ensure the accuracy and reliability of clinical data.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across a large, matrixed organization.
Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making to improve processes and outcomes.
Proficiency in Quality Assurance (QA) protocols, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
The ability to travel up to 25%.
