We are proud to provide innovative handcrafted dishes, beach-inspired local fare, savory home-style meals and plates from around the world all in one convenient setting. Our guests can also enjoy grab-and-go snacks, pastries, and their favorite coffee beverages at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, the Annenberg Cart, The Café, Literatea, Starbucks, C&G Juice Co., Cammilleri Cafe and the Law Café. Amidst all of the hustle and bustle of student life, our eateries are the ideal social gathering locations to grab a quick bite or enjoy a group meal.

We are seeking a Facilities Assistant to join our rapidly growing team.

The Opportunity:

Our Hospitality team takes great pride in providing exceptional customer service. As a Vending Specialist, you will be on the front lines, ensuring that our students, faculty, staff, and guests have access to the freshest and widest variety of snacks and beverages in our vending machines. You will maintain our machine equipment, as well as guaranteeing that our merchandize is stocked and stored correctly. We stand by our ability to provide the best USC experience, and need you to help us carry on this commitment to excellence.

The Accountabilities:

  • Maintain vending machine equipment including proper stocking and storing of merchandise, inventory control, collection of all sales and monies, and cleanliness and upkeep of equipment.

  • Transport all products utilizing designated vehicle in order to stock vending machines and maintain vending equipment.

  • Provide customer services to faculty, staff, students, and guests.

  • Receive product and/or merchandise from designated storeroom(s).

  • Maintain vending machines and vehicles. Ensure vending machines and vehicles are cleaned and repaired as needed.

  • Maintain organization of storage areas and vehicles. Stock and maintain all supplies and food items in vending machines. Use designated vehicle to transport stock to vending machines. Prepare daily inventory and sales reports

  • Collect and total money from vending machines. Collaborate with manager in reconciling deposits.

  • Assist in identifying product needs. Place product orders through manager.

  • Adhere to department service standards and to all health, safety and University rules and regulations.

  • Comply with standard food handling and sanitation procedures.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

The Qualifiers:

  • Education: High School Diploma.

  • Experience: 1 year.

  • Expertise:

    • Demonstrated customer service experience.

    • Inventory control, maintenance, and truck driving/supply transport experience.

    • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.

    • Ability to effectively communicate in English.

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

    • Ability to drive a truck.

    • Presents oneself professionally, in line with higher education environment.

    • Demonstrated cash handling experience.

    • Must have valid CA driver’s license and meet the requirements of the USC Vehicle/Driver Requirements Policy (https://policy.usc.edu/vehicle-driver-requirements/)

What We Prefer:

  • 2 years of experience in a food service operation with a vending program.

  • Ability to oversee student, temporary, and resource workers.

The hourly rate for this position is $29.50-$31.50.
