Position Summary
The SIPRNET Operations Manager is responsible for leading the organization's SIPRNET administration function across multiple geographically dispersed locations. This leader oversees a team of SIPRNET Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) responsible for maintaining secure, compliant, and operational SIPRNET environments supporting critical business and customer missions.
This role is accountable for ensuring all SIPRNET environments remain operationally ready, compliant, and prepared for Cyber Operational Readiness Assessments (CORA) every day of the year—not simply in preparation for scheduled assessments. The successful candidate will establish operational standards, drive accountability across the team, proactively identify and communicate risks, and continuously improve processes to increase operational efficiency and reduce compliance risk.
This position requires an experienced leader who is comfortable making decisions independently, holding teams accountable, influencing cross-functional partners, and escalating issues early to executive leadership. The ideal candidate is highly organized, execution-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
Travel is required to support geographically dispersed teams and enterprise SIPRNET operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically distributed team of SIPRNET administrators and technical SMEs.
- Establish clear operational expectations, performance metrics, and accountability across the SIPRNET support organization.
- Ensure all SIPRNET circuits are administered, maintained, and secured in accordance with Department of War, corporate, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Maintain continuous CORA readiness across all SIPRNET environments, ensuring documentation, configurations, and operational practices support successful assessments at any time.
- Validate that all team members maintain required technical certifications, security training, and role-based qualifications.
- Ensure standardized administration of enterprise SIPRNET tools, infrastructure, patching, vulnerability remediation, and configuration management.
- Partner closely with Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and Program Management teams to ensure enterprise operational excellence.
- Drive standardization and process improvement across multiple SIPRNET environments to improve efficiency, consistency, and operational maturity.
- Identify operational risks, staffing concerns, compliance gaps, and technical issues, escalating them to leadership with recommended mitigation plans.
- Lead planning and execution for new SIPRNET deployments, technology refreshes, infrastructure upgrades, and lifecycle initiatives.
- Develop and maintain enterprise documentation, standard operating procedures, technical baselines, and operational playbooks.
- Monitor operational performance through metrics, reporting, and regular operational reviews.
- Support internal and external audits, inspections, and customer assessments.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
