The Head of Team Member Relations operates the Human Resources functions in accordance with government policies, Hilton brand requirements, and hotel related policies. This role works closely with the General Manager and Executive team to manage human capital relations, build effective progressive discipline, recognition programs, and talent development methods to form a high performance team that achieves hotel business targets and strengthens the employer brand. The position ensures the correct application of all Team Member policies, compliance with employment regulations, and fosters a culture of fairness, communication, and engagement across the hotel.

   

Specifically, as the Head of Team Member Relations at Waldorf Astoria Maldives, you will perform the following tasks to the highest standards: 

  • Expert for the application of all Team Member (TM) policies and procedures
  • Ensuring compliance against all employmentrelated policies and regulations
  • Positive duty to train people managers in the correct application of policies
  • Ownership of communicating and implementing legal changes across the resort
  • Oversees the production of all TM reporting and analysis of insights
  • Establish, maintain, and ensure adherence to all personnelrelated policies and procedures
  • Ensure departmental activities are aligned with corporate HR strategy and hotel objectives
  • Work with the Executive team to establish and review hotel rules and regulations, including related training, communication, and execution
  • Represent the hotel in union negotiations and related activities, working closely with regional HR and hotel management
  • Oversee and investigate all team member relations and laborrelated matters as they relate to federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Provide guidance and advice to department heads on disciplinary procedures and team member relations issues
  • Conduct regular departmental communication meetings to ensure clarity and alignment
  • Create an opendoor environment to drive effective communication across the hotel
  • Ensure HR personnel provide professionalism, courtesy, and care to team members and visitors
  • Guide and coach department managers to improve leadership skills, team performance, and morale
  • Cultivate hotel and brand culture, unifying team member behaviors, procedures, and policies with positive reinforcement
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of team member areas, including kitchens and locker rooms
  • Ensure team members follow all hotel, company, and local rules, policies, and regulations relating to fire, hygiene, health, and safety
  • Support succession planning and talent development through coaching, mentoring, and engagement initiatives
  • Encourage HR team members to be creative and innovative, recognizing their contributions to operational success

Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree and above.
  • Minimum 2 year of experience in a similar position with an international brand hotel.
  • Strategic thinking and good analysis and planning skills.
  • Open minded and a team player.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English to meet business needs.
  • Good relationship with the local labor bureau and government agencies.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws.
  • Thorough knowledge of HR modules and department operations.
  • Able to coach and develop others.
  • Good basic business and financial sense.
  • Strong ownership and result driven.
  • Good organization and presentation skills.
