About this opportunity
Our client is seeking a Chief Actuary to lead the actuarial strategy and execution across their life insurance company. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, a strong command of regulatory environments, and a collaborative leadership style to influence enterprise-wide decisions.
Key responsibilities:
- Serving as the actuarial point of contact for regulators, ensuring timely and accurate submissions and responses
- Develop actuarial strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Insurance Act 1978, IFRS 17, Bermuda EBS)
- Oversee actuarial pricing, profit testing, and sensitivity analysis for life insurance products (traditional, participating, universal, unit-linked, etc.)
- Evaluate new product risks and optimize portfolio performance to balance competitiveness and profitability
- Direct liability valuation, reserve provisioning, and assumption setting to ensure accurate financial disclosures (e.g., quarterly/annual reports)
- Monitor asset-liability management (ALM) to ensure capital adequacy and solvency compliance (e.g., Bermuda EBS, C-ROSS)
- Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to inform capital strategy and risk appetite
What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related fields (e.g., FSA, FIA)
- 10+ years in life insurance actuarial roles, including 5+ years in leadership positions in an international life insurance company
- Proficiency in actuarial tools (e.g., Prophet, AXIS) and programming (VBA, R, Python); experience with big data/AI modelling is a plus
- Experience in digital assets is a plus
- Expertise in actuarial disciplines (pricing, valuation, capital modelling) and risk management
- Strong business acumen to align technical rigor with strategic goals
- Superior communication skills in both Chinese and English
