Mission
As Senior Financial & Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate statutory reporting and full tax compliance for Spanish entities. You will act as the main point of contact for auditors and tax advisors, driving high-quality financial reporting and timely tax filings. The role plays a key part in maintaining compliance with local GAAP, US GAAP and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with shared service centers and corporate teams to ensure alignment and process excellence. Additionally, you will support treasury activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This position is critical in safeguarding financial integrity and supporting business decision-making.
You will work closely with a team of colleagues in Spain and will be supported by PPG's Shared Service Center in the Czech Republic (responsible for ongoing accounting, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable).
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory financial statements and manage the full statutory reporting process
- Coordinate and act as main contact for external auditors
- Ensure timely and accurate tax compliance (CIT, VAT, withholding taxes, etc.)
- Manage Effective Tax Rate (ETR) calculations and US tax reporting requirements
- Review and monitor intercompany transactions and transfer pricing documentation
- Support month-end closing and balance sheet reconciliation processes
- Collaborate with SSC teams to ensure high-quality accounting processes
- Act as key contact for treasury operations and banking relationships
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and support internal/external audits
- Participate in finance projects, system improvements and process optimization
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced accountant with good self-awareness and a strong foundation in Spanish accounting, Income tax and VAT. You are used to working independently and taking full ownership of your processes – you do not leave anything unchecked.
To thrive in the role, you have:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax or related field
- +2-3 years of experience in accounting, finance or advisory (tax exposure required)
- Strong knowledge of Local GAAP and US GAAP
- Experience with tax compliance and Spanish tax regulations
- Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of Oracle or SAP is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Proactive, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
