Facilities Technician – JLL

What this job involves:

Join JLL as a Facilities Technician, where you'll provide essential maintenance support for assigned buildings while executing facility repairs and improvements, coordinating vendor activities, and supporting planning and scheduling operations. This hands-on technical role is critical to JLL's commitment to delivering safe, secure, and well-maintained facilities that support uninterrupted business operations for our clients. You'll combine technical expertise in building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment with strong organizational and coordination abilities to ensure facilities operate efficiently and reliably. What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Monitor the facility to ensure that it remains safe, secure, and well-maintained while performing routine and corrective maintenance on building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, maintaining general and preventative maintenance programs to ensure all systems operate efficiently and reliably, and conducting regular inspections to identify potential issues and execute necessary repairs to minimize downtime.

  • Troubleshoot power, HVAC systems and controls, and mechanical systems to diagnose and resolve operational issues, maintain carpentry and plumbing systems by addressing repairs promptly and effectively, replace lighting system bulbs and ballasts as needed to ensure proper illumination throughout the facility, and respond to work orders and emergency maintenance requests, resolving problems efficiently to support uninterrupted business operations.

  • Move office furniture, machinery, equipment, and other materials as requested to support workspace reconfigurations and operational needs, and assist with facility setup for meetings, events, and special projects as required to ensure seamless execution of business activities.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors and contractors performing work on-site, escort vendors throughout the facility to ensure compliance with safety protocols and security requirements, manage vendor relationships and coordinate their activities to ensure quality work and minimal disruption, and verify that vendor work meets specifications and quality standards before approval.

  • Assist the facilities management team with planning and scheduling maintenance activities, projects, and vendor services, maintain accurate records of completed work, preventive maintenance schedules, and equipment service histories, help prioritize work orders based on urgency and available resources, and coordinate with various departments to schedule facility work that accommodates business operations and minimizes impact.

  • Maintain detailed logs of all maintenance activities, repairs, and vendor visits, ensure all work complies with building codes, safety regulations, and company standards, and document equipment specifications, warranty information, and maintenance requirements for facility assets to support comprehensive facility management and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with 5-7 years of experience in facilities maintenance or related technical field demonstrating hands-on expertise in building systems maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work in commercial or industrial environments.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities with capability to diagnose complex building system issues, implement effective solutions, and communicate clearly with vendors, colleagues, and management to coordinate facility operations.

  • Basic knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance, with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, carpentry work, and mechanical systems to maintain facility functionality and reliability.

  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities with ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities effectively, help prioritize work orders based on urgency and available resources, and maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and equipment service histories.

  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, work from ladders and in confined spaces, perform physical tasks for extended periods, move furniture, equipment, and materials as needed, and willingness to respond to after-hours emergency calls and work overtime as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification or associate degree in facilities management, building systems, HVAC technology, electrical systems, or related field demonstrating formal technical education and advanced knowledge of commercial building operations and maintenance practices.

  • Experience in commercial building environments with understanding of multi-tenant facility operations, coordination with diverse stakeholders, and maintenance practices specific to office buildings, corporate campuses, or large-scale commercial properties.

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for work order management, preventive maintenance scheduling, asset tracking, and documentation of maintenance activities to support data-driven facility operations and reporting.

  • OSHA safety training or certifications demonstrating commitment to workplace safety, understanding of regulatory compliance requirements, and ability to implement safe work practices for self and contractors working on-site.

  • Trade-specific licenses or certifications such as HVAC technician license, electrical license, plumbing certification, or other specialized credentials that demonstrate advanced technical competency and regulatory compliance for specialized building systems work.

Location: Onsite

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

75,000.00 – 95,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
