As a Trade Finance Associate in Trade & Working Capital Operations, you will lead sanctions screening oversight for trade finance transactions across regions to ensure compliant, accurate, and timely processing aligned to applicable guidelines and internal policies. You will drive investigations and escalations of potential sanctions matches, partner with processing teams and stakeholders, and implement quality controls to meet operational targets. You will also manage team performance and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen risk management and process efficiency.
Job Responsibilities :
- Review trade finance transactions across regions in line with sanctions screening procedures, maintaining quality and throughput expectations.
- Investigate potential sanctions matches by analyzing alerts and validating supporting documentation within processing systems.
- Coordinate with processing teams to obtain additional details, complete follow-ups, and escalate cases where required.
- Manage regional sanctions screening queues, prioritizing urgent and high-value transactions with speed and accuracy.
- Establish quality control checks and governance routines to ensure outputs meet defined department standards and policy requirements.
- Identify root causes behind non-compliance events and operational issues, produce actionable reporting, and execute remediation plans to enhance controls.
- Lead people management activities including staffing, onboarding, functional training, performance measurement, feedback, and timely handling of non-performance matters.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Capabilities :
- 7+ years of experience across trade finance products and transaction processing (import/export bills, collections, letters of credit, trade settlements).
- Demonstrated capability in sanctions screening investigations, alert dispositioning, and escalation handling in a regulated operations environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with high attention to detail and an investigative mindset.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with proven ability to operate under pressure while maintaining integrity, control discipline, and timely delivery.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Capabilities :
- Prior experience in trade risk, compliance, or sanctions screening leadership within multi-region coverage models.
- Knowledge of OFAC sanctions and common sanctions screening typologies relevant to trade finance.
- Experience preparing internal and/or regulatory operational risk reporting and reviewing weekly/monthly performance vs targets.
- Demonstrated success driving process re-engineering, efficiency improvements, and control enhancements in high-volume queues.
