Preconstruction Manager (Commercial/Institutional)
SUMMARY
At Ajax Building Company, part of the STO Building Group, the Preconstruction Manager leads the estimating and planning functions, driving accurate cost modeling, budgeting, and buy-out strategies across projects. This role ensures reliable, data-driven estimates by overseeing pricing consistency, maintaining cost history, and continuously refining forecasting methodologies. The Preconstruction Manager also serves as a key liaison between preconstruction and operations, facilitating clear communication and informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. This position reports directly to the Director of Preconstruction Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Creation and distribution of design phase deliverable reports.
- Subcontractor solicitation.
- Development of GMP proposals.
- Must establish and maintain relationships with architects, owners, engineers, designers, clients, and others for potential business development.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 8-10+ years of preconstruction experience.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, OR a degree in another field with 8+ years of preconstruction experience.
- Position requires an understanding of industry practices and trends and their impact on the corporation.
- Strong interpersonal, communicative, and organizational skills.
