About the Role
The Senior Financial Services Manager is a key leadership role within the Financial Services Line of Business, reporting directly to the General Manager, Financial Services and Payments. This leader drives day-to-day execution, operationalizes the line of business’ long-term strategy, ensures cross-functional accountability, and delivers in-year P&L impact.This role partners deeply across Product, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Sales, and Support to ensure business outcomes remain at the center of decision-making. The Senior Manager will work with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable results, and intervene when course corrections are needed. WIll assist with building and evolving the strategy, and ensure the right trade-offs are made between customer experience, operational feasibility, risk balance, and financial performance.
The ideal candidate is an analytically strong, commercially minded operator and a clear, confident communicator. They connect insights to action, influence decisions across teams, and drive tangible business results.
What You'll Do

Run the Business — Metrics, Reviews, and Actions

  • Build, monitor, and manage key business metrics and ongoing KPI reports in collaboration with Finance, FP&A, and Data teams.
  • Own the rhythm of business: weekly/monthly performance reviews, KPI tracking, and financial health reporting.
  • Translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations to drive revenue, margin, revenue improvement and in-year P&L impact.
  • Ensure alignment and accountability across functions to meet P&L objectives.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations and communications that summarize performance insights, business recommendations, and progress toward key objectives.


Execute Special Business Initiatives

  • Lead cross-functional projects that drive growth, margin expansion, or operational scalability. Example projects include pricing optimization, promotional strategy, or cost efficiency work.
  • Challenge or adjust decisions that could limit business impact (e.g., default configurations, pricing changes, or rollout plans).


Partner and Influence Across the Organization

  • Serve as a trusted business partner to leaders in Product, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Sales, and Support in discussions and decisions related to Financial Services.
  • Influence decisions through strong business judgment, data-informed insights, and persuasive storytelling.
  • Represent the Financial Services business in operational and strategic forums, ensuring commercial implications are considered in every decision.


Own High-Value Customer and Commercial Decisions

  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to evaluate and approve offers or discounts for strategic customers.
  • Recommend pricing or promotional strategies within guardrails, escalating significant exceptions to the GM.
  • Balance customer growth opportunities with financial discipline and potential risk exposure.
  • Work with GM to refine quarterly and annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Work with BD Team to manage strategic partners to deliver financial services offerings supporting as needed in partner management.
  • Collaborate with internal and external legal teams on contract negotiations, renewals, and agreements to achieve revenue goals with embedded finance partners, while balancing potential risks and supporting the long-term success of strategic objectives.


Monitor Market, Competition, and Industry Trends

  • Track developments in the Financial Services and fintech ecosystem, identifying competitive threats and emerging opportunities.
  • Anticipate trends that could influence near-term business performance or future product strategy.


Support Financial and Strategic Planning

  • Partner with Product, Marketing, FP&A, and Data to develop business cases for new initiatives, pricing adjustments, and partnerships.
  • Model financial outcomes, evaluate ROI, and monitor post-launch performance to ensure accountability to P&L goals.

What You'll Bring
  • 8+ years of experience in Financial Services, fintech, or SaaS business management roles.
  • Proven experience managing or influencing a P&L, with strong financial and analytical acumen.
  • Deep understanding of Financial Services economics (pricing, attach rates, cost optimization, and margin management).
  • Experience leading or influencing cross-functional teams across Product, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Sales, and Support.
  • Strong communicator and influencer, with excellent executive presentation skills and the ability to drive alignment across stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Comfortable operating both strategically and tactically; thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven, with a bias for execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.

Compensation


At FreshBooks, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.
The total compensation for this role ranges from CA$120,000 - CA$145,000 per year, which may include participation in our incentive programs. Additionally, this position offers an equity grant and immediate enrollment in FreshBooks' comprehensive benefits program, detailed below.
