Medical Office Associate I - Full Time, Days - Atlantic Advanced Urgent Care - Mountain Lakes
Responsible for general receptionist, registration, and billing duties in a physician office setting.
Accountabilities:
Manages heavy phone volume
- Greets patients
- Schedules/confirms appointments
- Enters demographics & patient information
- Verifies insurance coverage, complete forms, collect co-pays
- Balances cash
- Maintains schedule in EMR system, and processes pre-certs/authorizations & referrals as well as medical records releases.
- Other related duties as assigned
- Essential Functions will include but not be limited to the following:
- Perform clinical as well as administrative functions, i.e., vital signs (including pulse oximetry), patient intake, room patients
- Notify provider or registered nurse immediately if vital signs are abnormal
- EKG acquisition
- Cardiac monitoring device application
- Venous blood draws
- Record/ update medical histories including allergies and medication reconciliation
- Assist/ chaperone during patient examinations
- Assisting with minor surgical procedures
- Applying bandages, ace wraps, air casts, perform crutch training
Required:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent experience
2. Prior administrative experience in a physician practice strongly preferred
3. Knowledge of computerized scheduling & EMR system a plus
4. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
5. Certified Medical Assistant
6. Basic Life Support Certification
Preferred:
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
2. Individual must be customer and employee focused, must have demonstrated ability to multi-task
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
