Accountabilities:
- Lead and develop an engineering team of 8+ engineers responsible for checkout systems, order management, and post-order experiences.
- Provide strategic and technical leadership to ensure platform reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a key engineering partner for multiple teams across the organization, managing dependencies, priorities, and communication.
- Establish clear frameworks for prioritization and execution to support high-volume product initiatives.
- Drive platform modernization efforts while balancing architectural improvements with customer-facing delivery needs.
- Own engineering execution from roadmap planning and technical strategy through delivery, team development, and operational excellence.
- Partner with product, design, data, and engineering leaders to define future infrastructure capabilities.
- Hire, mentor, retain, and support the professional growth of engineers through coaching and career development.
- Promote strong engineering practices, collaboration, and a culture of ownership and accountability.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineering teams of 8 or more engineers.
- Experience building and scaling backend systems in high-traffic production environments.
- Background working with transactional systems such as e-commerce platforms, order management, checkout, payments, or similar domains.
- Proven ability to manage complex cross-functional initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Experience creating and executing technical roadmaps that balance platform evolution with continuous product delivery.
- Demonstrated success hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.
- Strong understanding of system architecture, scalability, reliability, and platform engineering principles.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience operating effectively in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Preferred experience with marketplace platforms, commerce infrastructure, payment systems, or large-scale customer-facing applications.
- Competitive compensation package with a base salary range of approximately $196,000–$207,000 USD for eligible Canadian-based candidates.
