As a Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk (CCOR) Officer within the Vietnam Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk team, you will support the execution of the firm’s Compliance and Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) programs in Vietnam. You will partner with the business, control functions, and regional stakeholders to help ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies while enabling responsible growth. You will provide regulatory advisory on new products, business initiatives, and licensing matters; support the assessment and implementation of regulatory changes; assist with regulatory engagement and reporting; and contribute to managing anti-money laundering, sanctions, and broader financial crime risks.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the execution and delivery of the compliance program in Vietnam in line with local regulatory requirements and firm policies
- Monitor, interpret, and assess new and amended Vietnamese laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance, and support regulatory change management through impact assessments, implementation tracking, and reporting
- Provide regulatory advisory and compliance guidance to businesses and corporate functions on new products, business initiatives, outsourcing arrangements, licensing applications, and regulatory obligations
- Support engagement with local regulators and coordinate regulatory submissions, information requests, examinations, inspections, and thematic reviews
- Conduct regulatory gap assessments, identify key compliance risks, and support remediation activities through to closure
- Support the execution of the local anti-money laundering, sanctions, and financial crime compliance framework in collaboration with regional financial crime compliance teams
- Prepare and maintain anti-money laundering, sanctions, and financial crime risk assessments, regulatory reports, watchlist updates, and periodic compliance reviews
- Partner with businesses and stakeholders to identify, assess, and address financial crime risks associated with new products, customers, services, and payment activities
- Review, escalate, and support the resolution of unusual activity and financial crime concerns, including meeting applicable regulatory reporting obligations
- Coordinate responses to requests from regulators and law enforcement authorities relating to anti-money laundering, sanctions, and financial crime matters
- Support operational risk activities across lines of business and corporate functions in Vietnam by promoting effective risk management practices, providing credible challenge, and escalating significant issues in a timely manner
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Bachelor's degree in Law, Banking, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline.
Minimum 8 years of experience in Compliance, Financial Crime Compliance, Legal or Regulatory Affairs within a foreign bank, financial institution or financial services organization in Vietnam.
Demonstrated knowledge of Vietnamese banking regulations, regulatory framework and regulatory engagement processes.
Experience supporting regulatory change management, regulatory implementation projects or compliance risk management programs.
Strong understanding of AML, counter-terrorist financing, sanctions and financial crime regulatory requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess regulatory impacts and communicate practical solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Vietnamese and English.
Proven ability to engage effectively with regulators, senior management and cross-functional stakeholders, and to work independently while maintaining a strong control and risk management mindset
Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience utilizing AI, data analytics or workflow automation tools.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience supporting transaction banking, cash management, treasury services, cross-border payments, markets.
Experience in Anti-Money laundering and sections risk assessment, suspicious transaction reporting.
Familiarity with regulatory licensing processes and regulatory submissions to the State Bank of Vietnam.
- Experience working in a global financial institution and interacting with regional and global stakeholders.
- Knowledge of payment flows, payment controls and associated AML, sanctions and fraud risks.
