Senior Director, Executive Communications
At Cloudflare, we are on a mission to help build a better Internet. Today the company runs one of the world’s largest networks that powers millions of websites and other Internet properties for customers ranging from individual bloggers to SMBs to Fortune 500 companies. Cloudflare protects and accelerates any Internet application online without adding hardware, installing software, or changing a line of code. Internet properties powered by Cloudflare all have web traffic routed through its intelligent global network, which gets smarter with every request. As a result, they see significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks. Cloudflare was named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top Company Cultures list and ranked among the World’s Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company.
At Cloudflare, we’re not looking for people who wait for a polished roadmap; we’re looking for the builders who see the cracks in the Internet that everyone else has simply learned to live with. We value candidates who have the instinct to spot a "normalized" problem and the AI-native curiosity to create a solution using the latest tools. Our culture is built on iteration, leveraging AI to ship faster today to make it better tomorrow, while ensuring that every improvement, no matter how small, is shared across the team to lift everyone up. If you’re the type of person who values curiosity over bureaucracy, and that AI is a partner in solving tough problems to keep the Internet moving forward, you’ll fit right in.

About the role
Cloudflare is looking for a Senior Director of Executive Communications to scale our global Executive Communications Program. This is an exciting opportunity to lead executive communications for a prominent leader pioneering the field, Cloudflare’s co-founder and President—helping to tell her story and share her expertise internally and externally. This role will also be the architect behind our broader executive communications strategy—building the frameworks, training, and programs raising the bar for how our entire leadership team communicates globally.
We are looking for a seasoned, highly strategic communicator who can effortlessly pivot between deep-tech and mainstream storytelling. Additionally, the ideal candidate is AI-forward—someone who naturally embraces and leverages AI tools to streamline production, scale output, and optimize executive workflows.
This role reports to the Vice President, Global Head of Communications, and sits within a fast-paced, award-winning team.
Responsibilities
- Office of the President Partnership: Lead all aspects of communications pertaining to the Office of the President, including related media relations, speaking engagements, public appearances, employee communications, stakeholder engagement, social media, planning, and personal branding.
- Build & Scale the Executive Comms Program: Create the blueprint for a broader executive communications program. Establish the core playbooks, central messaging pillars, and training frameworks used to uplevel spokesperson readiness across Cloudflare's leadership.
- Master the Audience Pivot: Seamlessly translate highly complex technical concepts (such as AI, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure) into engaging, accessible narratives for mainstream business audiences and media—without losing the technical rigor that developer audiences expect.
- Streamline via AI Integration: Actively champion and integrate generative AI tools into your daily workflow to research, draft, iterate, and scale executive content efficiently.
- End-to-End Preparation: Manage and strategically plan all aspects of how the executive prepares for, shows up at, and maximizes her presence at appearances, events, and communications-focused engagements.
- Content Creation: Craft compelling executive messaging, narratives, keynotes, op-eds, and content across internal and external communication channels.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the executive admin team to ensure alignment with the President’s calendar and trips, while working closely with key PR, IR, and Employee Comms stakeholders to streamline and curate strategic brand narratives.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Seasoned Comms Experience: 10+ years of experience working in executive communications for CEOs, top C-level public-company leaders, or international public figures.
- The "Translator" Ability: Proven success communicating both to highly technical audiences (developers, IT leaders) and mainstream business/consumer audiences.
- AI-Forward Mindset: Demonstrable experience utilizing AI productivity and writing tools to scale executive communications workflows and drive efficiency.
- Programmatic & Project Management Acumen: Experience building communication programs or initiatives from the ground up, with a high level of project management discipline across multiple global teams.
- Impeccable Craft: Exceptional communication, writing, and presentation skills—with a highly tailored approach to crafting various storylines, speeches, and presentations for unique executive talk tracks.
- Proactive & Agile: Creative, hardworking, and flexible professionalism—you thrive in a fast-paced environment and anticipate the next move before it happens. Highly organized when it comes to future vision and daily details.
- Global Perspective & Presence: Experience leading initiatives across international teams, with a willingness to travel regularly.
