The Senior Electronics Engineer will utilize fundamental engineering knowledge and practices along with in-depth working experience and knowledge to design and develop electronic systems. The Electronics Engineer will perform assignments and lead projects with minimal instruction and guidance from senior level engineers and managers. Will act as technical resource and provide guidance to colleagues. You will support the development of prototype and concept vehicles, with a strong focus on vehicle electrification, autonomous vehicles, and unmanned vehicle platforms.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:  Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and principles.
  • Perform complex engineering analysis and problem solving.
  • Create and approve engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Lead the design and specification of mechatronic and embedded systems including component selection, system architecture, control methods.
  • Communicate mechanical requirements of system to design staff. 
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Use electronics related tools: oscilloscope, voltmeter, power supplies, hand tools, etc.
  • Lead electronics projects: develop and execute work plans, budgets, etc.
  • Develop new processes and engineering tools.
  • Support business development activities:  proposal creation, cost and resource estimates, project timing, etc.
  • Design, specify and partition complex wire harness assemblies.
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise to colleagues and other departments.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following areas will be assigned as required.

  • Interaction with current and potential customers regarding Pratt Miller systems.
  • Planning and program management on internal and customer projects.
  • Education / training.
  • Provide feedback on product needs and processes.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint.) 
  • Be a team player.  
  • Have great attention to detail. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • BS or MS in Automotive, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Systems.
  • Minimum 6+ years of engineering experience.

DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • High Voltage system design experience.
  • Electrical and hybrid vehicle systems experience.
  • Autonomous & by-wire systems experience.
  • MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow experience.
  • Vector CAN tools experience.
  • dSpace tools.
  • Communication protocols: CAN, LIN, SPI, Wireless 802.11, ethernet, etc.
  • CAD tools.
  • Mentor Graphics Vesys or Capital experience.
  • High Voltage component experience (motors, inverters, chargers, etc.).
  • System reverse engineering experience.
  • Data acquisition experience.
  • Printed Circuit Board design experience.
  • Project leadership / program management.
  • Experience mentoring others.
  • Extensive knowledge of automotive, defense or motorsports industry requirements, standards, and trends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Position requires light physical activity.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • Daytime schedule Monday – Friday with infrequent night/weekend work to achieve deadlines.
  • Occasional travel as required for on-site customer work.

Pay Range:

$91,500.00 - $148,100.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
