CHI St. Alexius Health Turtle Lake is a 25 bed critical access hospital with a Level V Emergency Department that is available 24 hours a day. Our hospital has been committed to providing patients quality medical treatment in the Turtle Lake area and surrounding communities since 1952. Through the years, the hospital has sought to continually upgrade the quality and numbers of services it provides. The hospital's affiliation with major medical centers and health care agencies has allowed it to expand its health care services through a network that begins at the local level. CHI St. Alexius Health Turtle Lake is equipped with 2 emergency rooms, on-site lab, radiology, CT and physical therapy services. Our patients have access to 24/7 emergency care, swing-bed programs, and acute care services.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Activities Aide, you will assist in the planning, organization, and directing of activity programs for the facility population. You will prepare reports on the assigned population’s progress as may be required. Every day you will participate in activities that may include sports, dramatics, nature study, social activities, games, and arts and crafts in accordance with patient/resident needs. You will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents and patients by fostering engagement, promoting well-being, and creating a stimulating and supportive environment through diverse programming. To be successful in your role, you will creatively assist in the planning, organization, and direction of diverse activity programs tailored to the needs of our facility population. You will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, a compassionate approach, and the ability to effectively engage participants in a variety of activities, while meticulously reporting on their progress to enhance overall well-being and contribute to their comprehensive care.

  • Assists in developing and adapting activity programs to meet the individual physical, mental, and psychosocial needs and interests of each resident
  • Completes accurate daily activity records, communicates relevant departmental information, and reports significant changes in resident participation to the activity coordinator
  • Conducts daily one-on-one visits as required by care plans, encouraging participation in assigned activities with a positive approach, and follows/updates the monthly activity calendar
  • Maintains strong interpersonal relationships with residents and colleagues, demonstrating helpfulness and respect for resident privacy and confidentiality
  • Exhibits flexibility and initiative, performing additional tasks as assigned by the activity coordinator
  • Engages in continuing education, participates in department/hospital activities, and sets personal goals for leadership and professionalism

Job Requirements

Preferred

 

  • A high school diploma or GED 
  • Previous experience in an activity department, or at least in a nursing facility
