As a Tech Risk and Controls Lead at JPMorganChase within the Core and Foundational Platforms – Compute Infrastructure Platforms team, you will be responsible for identifying and mitigating compliance and operational risks in line with the firm's standards. You will provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to technology-aligned process owners, ensuring that implemented controls are operating effectively and in compliance with regulatory, legal, and industry standards. By partnering with various stakeholders — including Product Owners, Business Control Managers, and Regulators — you will contribute to a comprehensive view of technology risk posture and its impact on the business. Your advanced knowledge of risk management principles, practices, and theories will enable you to drive innovative solutions in a dynamic and evolving risk landscape.

You will build strong working relationships with Application Owners, operations teams, clients, and business partners to deliver end-to-end infrastructure services related to the management of production applications, services, products, business functions, and staff. Working across multiple levels within the organization, you will identify, socialize, and mitigate technology-related risks, drawing on your knowledge of architectural solutions, service delivery, and component failure impact.

 

Job responsibilities

  • Manage and drive risk and control governance for the Infrastructure Platforms Compute lines, ensuring alignment with firmwide standards and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with compute platform engineers to identify risk and/or control deficiencies across multiple compute products and drive timely remediation
  • Ensure effective identification, quantification, communication, and management of technology risk, with a focus on root cause analysis and resolution recommendations
  • Develop and maintain robust relationships, serving as a trusted partner with technology teams, assessment teams, and data officers to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and progress toward shared goals
  • Execute reporting and governance of controls, policies, issue management, and measurements, providing senior management with insights into control effectiveness
  • Proactively monitor and evaluate control effectiveness, identify gaps, and recommend enhancements to strengthen risk posture and regulatory compliance
  • Prepare and present regular governance reporting materials on the state of the control environment to senior leadership
  • Investigate and respond to metrics, triggers, and alerts that may indicate a potential control issue, escalating as appropriate
  • Review standards and controls against firmwide requirements, regulatory obligations, and industry practices to ensure ongoing alignment
  • Mentor and educate compute engineering staff on critical risk frameworks, fostering a culture of continuous process improvement

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in technology risk management, information security, or a related field, with a focus on risk identification, assessment, and mitigation
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks, industry standards, and financial services regulatory requirements
  • Proficient knowledge in data security, risk assessment and reporting, control evaluation, design, and governance, with a proven record of implementing effective risk mitigation strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to provide deep technical insights related to software, hardware, infrastructure, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Skilled at influencing executive-level strategic decision-making and translating complex technology insights into actionable business strategies for senior leadership
  • Strong data analytics skills, including proficiency in tools such as Excel and other data analysis platforms
  • Proven track record of delivering results against deadlines, with accountability and responsibility for an independent workload
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate across functions and geographies to expand influence, knowledge, and engagement with senior leadership

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Understanding of compute platforms such as Linux and Windows operating systems, virtualization platforms, container technology, and PC hardware
  • Knowledge of technology infrastructure including database, network, storage, cloud technology, and compute environments
  • Technical and operational understanding of financial services regulations and enterprise risk management practices
  • Industry-recognized risk certifications such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Alteryx, Tableau, and the Microsoft Office Suite
