About the Role
Citizens Commercial Bank is standing up a new Product organization, led by a Chief Product Owner reporting to the Head of Commercial. The Product Lead, Director is a foundational Day 1 hire within that organization, responsible for leading a product area that spans the GenAI Banking Platform and the Commercial AI use case pipeline.
This leader translates enterprise strategy into cohesive product direction and execution across multiple teams, aligning roadmaps, resolving cross domain tradeoffs, and driving consistent product management standards. The role partners across Engineering, Enterprise Data & Analytics, Risk, Compliance, Model Risk Management, and the Commercial business to ensure teams are solving the right customer problems and delivering measurable banker productivity, revenue, and risk outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities
Product Area Leadership and Strategy
- Lead a product area spanning the GenAI Banking Platform and Commercial AI use case portfolio, translating enterprise and Commercial Bank strategy into cohesive product direction and execution.
- Align roadmaps across product teams, analytics, and engineering pods to a coherent strategy and shared outcomes.
- Resolve cross team and cross domain tradeoffs across scope, sequencing, dependencies, and investment.
- Ensure teams are solving the right customer problems across the product area, with clear linkage from banker and client needs to backlog priorities.
GenAI Banking Platform
- Own product strategy and delivery for the GenAI Banking Platform, ensuring reusable building blocks (APIs, services, prompt and agent patterns, evaluation harnesses) that scale from initial use cases to enterprise capability.
- Lead end to end product delivery, shifting banker time from manual work to client facing, revenue generating activity.
- Identify and prioritize banker "moments of truth" (pipeline management, client preparation, deal positioning, onboarding, servicing) for AI enabled redesign.
Insights, Targeting, and Lifecycle Capabilities
- Translate Insights, targeting, and client lifecycle roadmaps into AI powered capabilities that sharpen deal positioning, support pricing, and drive client uptiering.
- Partner with the Commercial Analytics Team to embed next best action recommendations, propensity models, and lifecycle triggers directly into banker workflows.
Responsible AI Governance and Use Case Pipeline
- Operationalize the Commercial AI use case intake, prioritization, and value tracking process, balancing speed with responsible AI discipline.
- Embed controls for accuracy, transparency, bias, fairness, explainability, privacy, data protection, and human oversight in partnership with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Model Risk Management.
- Ensure AI products meet regulatory, ethical, and fairness standards, drawing on deep understanding of domain, risk, and regulatory considerations.
Product Management Standards and Operating Discipline
- Drive consistent product management standards, practices, and decision frameworks across the product area.
- Establish outcome metrics (banker productivity, time reclaimed, adoption, revenue impact, risk reduction) and hold teams accountable for results.
- Address systemic delivery issues and continuously improve operating efficiency across the product area.
- Champion intake quality so every initiative begins with a defined business problem, user need, and success metric.
Stakeholder Alignment and Executive Communication
- Lead stakeholder alignment and decision making at scale across Commercial business units, EDA, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Operations.
- Partner with the Chief Product Owner to represent Commercial AI products to the Head of Commercial and the Commercial leadership team.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and non technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years’ experience in senior leadership role leading multiple product teams or a complex product domain.
- Minimum 3 years focused on AI or ML products, with demonstrated delivery of GenAI enabled solutions in production.
- Proven track record of delivering AI driven solutions in a regulated industry, financial services strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of machine learning concepts, LLMs, model lifecycle, vector databases, orchestration tools, and data infrastructure.
- Experience leading Agile delivery using Scrum or SAFe, including with hybrid onshore and offshore scrum teams.
- Demonstrated ability to embed responsible AI principles into product design and delivery, including model governance, bias and fairness testing, explainability, and human in the loop review.
- Deep understanding of Commercial Banking domain, risk, and regulatory considerations.
- Exceptional communication and influence skills, with experience presenting to senior executives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior product leadership in Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking, or Commercial & Investment Banking.
- Capital markets product management experience highly desired
- Experience standing up AI governance frameworks, use case intake processes, and KPI dashboards at enterprise scale.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and GenAI vendor ecosystems.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager certification.
- Experience with Salesforce.com, Dealcloud or other Commercial CRM platforms.
