You would be responsible for scheduling surgical procedures, including, pre and postoperative visits under the direction of the provider. Responsible for maintaining proper provider schedules and coordinating surgeries in accordance with provider templates. In addition, the employee will be responsible for coordinating the surgeons’ OR schedule and aligning it with the ambulatory practice schedule to ensure there are no overlaps. Responsible for working with multiple physician practices and Hospital departments.
What you will do:
Complete any pre-authorizations and prior approvals from third party payers for all radiology and surgical procedures
Capture patient information including demographic, diagnosis, procedure, insurance and physician
Maintain proper provider schedules and coordinate surgeries in an efficient manner
Adjust schedule template to accurately reflect surgeons' clinical time
Confirm electronic health record and outlook schedules match and accurately reflect the surgeon’s daily schedule
Obtain pre-surgical testing, arrangements and reporting to pre-admission testing
Schedule procedures in an appropriate time period as it relates to the patient’s diagnosis and urgency of the surgery
Coordinate exchanges of information between physicians in the group, outside groups, and Saint Francis Hospital as it pertains to the surgical cases
Review discharge instructions with patients and ensure proper follow-up appointments are scheduled at the time the procedure is scheduled
Collaborate with Medical Practice Assistants within the office to coordinate aftercare and services required with outside facilities
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent, Associate's preferred
Surgical scheduling experience, proficient knowledge of Medical Terminology required; previous experience working in a surgeon's practice, preferred.
Requires a good understanding of surgical procedures. Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work effectively to maintain an accurate OR schedule. Must have the ability to work within deadlines and in fast paced environment with excellent prioritization skills.
Pay Range: $18.70 - $28.05
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
