About The Opportunity
We are looking for an Engineering Systems Manager to be the backbone of our hardware engineering team. You will be the primary owner of the core engineering software suite that enables our mechanical engineers to design, document, and release complex automation products. Your goal is to eliminate technical friction, ensuring that our PDM, PLM, and project management tools are optimized for speed, reliability, and data integrity.
The Impact You Will Make
Act as the architect & administrator for our core engineering suite, including Solidworks, PDM, PLM (Arena), and Jira, supporting both our hardware R&D and Manufacturing Teams
Create and maintain custom workflows, automations, and templates in that core suite. Take feedback and requests from the team as well as implementing your own best practices.
Serve as the first line of defense for troubleshooting error messages, vault access issues, and software bugs for the mechanical engineering team.
Enforce and improve Wonder Robotics’ documentation standards for file naming, revision control, and BOM (Bill of Materials) management within the PLM system.
Perform regular maintenance of the software systems as new versions and features are released. Test the new features to make sure they work with our team’s workflows and automations.
Manage permissions and onboarding/offboarding for all hardware engineering users across all software platforms.
Partner with Wonder’s IT Procurement team to co-own the vendor relationships to purchase software licenses and renewals to ensure the team always has the tools they need without service interruptions.
What You Bring to the Table
3+ years of experience administering CAD (Solidworks strongly preferred), PDM, and PLM software for an engineering team.
Proven experience configuring PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Arena, Propel).
Proven experience with JIRA, creating custom automations and workflows.
Familiarity with all lifecycle phases of hardware product development, from Prototyping to Production.
Deep familiarity with the mechanical design process and its terminology: you understand how engineers actually work, not just how software is configured.
You understand the distinctions between Parts and Assemblies, 3D and 2D CAD, and ancillary Supporting Documentation, and can reason about how these items relate to each other within PDM and PLM databases.
A "support-first" mindset with the ability to calmly troubleshoot technical issues under tight project deadlines.
Strong ability to create "How-To" guides and training materials for engineers on how to use our systems correctly.
Ability to translate the “ideal” workflow described by an engineer into a real world process within the relevant software product.
Bonus - familiarity with Quality Management System (QMS) implementation.
This role requires a minimum of 3 days a week in the office, with additional days as needed based on project demands.
This role is based in our Boston office in Charlestown, MA
Massachusetts: $128,000 - $135,000 per year.
