We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive complex software engineering projects that push the boundaries of additive manufacturing. In this role, you'll work closely with our software engineering team to ensure the effective delivery of high-impact technical initiatives that advance our mission.
This role will be located at our Sunnyvale, CA office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate complex software development programs
- Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive project plans
- Track project progress, milestones, budgets, and dependencies
- Manage key vendor relationships
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks in the development of our products and services
- Facilitate effective communication within and between teams, escalating issues when necessary
- Provide regular status updates and reports to stakeholders on key initiatives
- Drive technical decision-making processes and help teams reach consensus
- Help define and participate in the rhythms and processes of our software team (stand-ups, planning sessions, backlog groomings, on-call practices, deployment cycles, etc)
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering Managers to lead software team structures, cadences, and culture
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in technical program management in the context of software delivery
- Fluency in typical software development workflows (e.g. Agile) and key lifecycles (e.g. release management)
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex technical projects
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge gaps across various disciplines and perspectives
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Deep experience in software development lifecycles
- Experience with common project management and software development tools (e.g., Jira, Google Drive, Confluence, GitHub, etc.)
- Experience adopting AI for appropriate tasks (we use Claude)
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience in 3D printing technologies specifically or manufacturing generally
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software, Manufacturing Execution Systems, and or manufacturing-focused Quality Management Systems
- Experience shipping software to physical devices (in addition to cloud-based software deployments)

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation. The compensation bracket for this position is $182,400 - $273,600 per year. In order to maintain equitable internal pay practices, we aim to hire new employees near the midpoint of $228,000, taking into account your experience, work location, certifications, and the unique skills you bring to the role.
Your actual salary will be based on your experience, work location, certifications and the unique skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Sunnyvale office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.
