Who we are looking for:
The purpose of this role is to support the end-to-end Trade settlement life cycle across global financial markets. This position is ideal for candidate who are eager to build a career in Investment Banking Operations and Securities Settlements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate trade settlement, monitoring settlement instructions, investigating exceptions, supporting fail management activities, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth settlement processing. The role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining high standards of risk and control.
Selected candidates will be required to work at shifts which allow reasonable overlap with US, APAC and EMEA hours and allow for trainings, on the job practice, feedback etc.
What you will be responsible for:
- Perform daily pre-matching of trades with brokers and custodians.
- Investigate settlement exceptions and unmatched trades.
- Drive fails reduction initiatives and minimizes settlement risk.
- Manage buy-ins, penalties, and aging fails where applicable
- Process and monitor settlement of Equity and Fixed Income trades across global markets.
- Ensure trades are instructed, matched, and settled within market deadlines.
- Monitor settlement queues and resolve pending or unmatched transactions.
- Handle DVP, FOP, and market-specific settlement requirements.
- Process cash and securities movements through custodians, CSDs, and clearing agents.
- Investigate and resolve depot, nostro, and position breaks.
- Perform cash and stock reconciliations.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues.
- Escalate critical issues in line with operational procedures.
- Respond to settlement queries and provide timely updates.
- Support clients during market claims, cash exceptions, and settlement issues.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and market requirements.
- Follow operational risk and control procedures.
- Maintain accurate audit trails and settlement records.
- Support internal and external audits

- Understanding of the securities trade lifecycle, settlement processes, and operational workflows across Equity and Fixed Income products
- Ability to process transactions accurately and identify discrepancies before they impact settlement.
- Strong aptitude for investigating settlement breaks, resolving exceptions, and mitigating operational risk.
- Capability to analyze issues, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions within tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with brokers, custodians, counterparties, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet stringent market and regulatory deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Eagerness to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and continuous process enhancement.
- Basic to advanced proficiency in Excel for reconciliation, reporting, and operational analysis.
- Strong willingness to learn about global financial markets, settlement practices, and regulatory requirements

Education & Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in commerce / economics with a specialization in Business, Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
CA / CPA / ACCA or similar professional qualification preferred.
