SHIFT: 8 Hour Shifts

POSITION SUMMARY

The Radiologic Clerical Assistant provides clerical and administrative support to the Radiology Department. This position supports daily departmental operations, patient scheduling, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflow. The role requires familiarity with medical terminology related to diagnostic imaging and supports radiologic technologists, radiologists, providers, and patients while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Answer phones promptly and professionally; triage calls as appropriate
  • Work in conjunction with Central Scheduler to schedule imaging exams based on provider orders, urgency, and departmental protocols
  • Confirm insurance eligibility and required authorizations prior to entering order/charge
  • Ensure imaging orders include required clinical information and diagnoses
  • Maintain accurate patient records within the EHR/RIS
  • Maintain mammography tracking logs and follow-up documentation in compliance with MQSA
  • Coordinate outside imaging studies and reports
  • Support radiologic technologists and assist patients as needed
  • Monitor and maintain monthly department supply inventory
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and external facilities
  • All other duties or responsibilities as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required:

  • BLS Certification within 3 months of hire
  • Medical Terminology

 

Education Preferred:

  • High School Diploma
  • Medical Assistant Certification

 

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Previous medical office or healthcare-related experience

 

Experience Preferred:

  • 1 year experience in clinical setting
  • Prior healthcare or radiology clerical experience
  • Familiarity with HER, RIS or PACS systems
