Innovation Management | Physical Security internship: security innovation funnel design
Introduction
Within ASML, Physical Security is a critical component in protecting people, assets, intellectual property, and business continuity. RBA&S Physical Security operates in the Second Line of Defense and focuses on ‘why’ and ‘what’ the organization needs to do to remain secure, for instance by defining global security policy, advise on site-specific measures and validate implementation.
The RBA&S Physical Security Innovation team is part of RBA&S Physical Security. Innovation plays a key role in keeping our security capabilities resilient and future‑proof. To support this, the team is responsible to shape the future of physical security through innovation, architecture, and governance. This is done through building a structured approach that ensures new ideas are systematically identified, assessed, tested, and embedded within ASML’s Physical Security Framework.
Your Assignment
The objective of this internship is to create and nurture an internal and external physical security innovation funneling mechanism. As an intern, you will support the design and implementation of such a structured mechanism to ensure security concepts and initiatives are:
Collected in a consistent way
Assessed and prioritized
Tested through proof‑of‑concepts
Translated into scalable and governed security solutions
Your main activities will include:
Identify and structure physical security innovation sources
Design a standardized innovation mechanism
Define evaluation and prioritization criteria for security initiatives
Support the setup and evaluation of proof-of-concepts (PoCs)
Translate innovation outcomes into governed security outputs
Design and document the Physical Security Innovation Funnel
Document, communicate, and present progress and outcomes
You will work closely with different internal stakeholders and gain valuable insight into how innovation is governed in a complex, global organization.
This is a bachelor internship for minimum 6 months, minimum 4 days per week (4–5 days on-site). The start date of this internship is as of September 2026.
Your Profile
To be suitable for this internship, you:
Are enrolled in a Bachelor’s program (e.g. Physical Security, Innovation Management, Risk or similar)
Have a strong interest in innovation, security, or technology development
Are comfortable with structuring processes, frameworks, and documentation
Enjoy research, analysis, and translating ideas into practical solutions
Possess strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Are proactive, curious, and able to work independently in a professional environment
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
