Massage Therapist - Outpatient Hospice

Position Summary:
The massage therapist is a specialist whose fundamental purpose is to enhance the quality of life for patients and families using massage. This individual’s objectives are to determine and utilize therapeutic massage approaches which effectively aid in the restoration, maintenance, and improvement in psychosocial, physical, and spiritual health.
The massage therapist serves as a role model in the leadership and delivery of patient/family focused care by integrating the role components of clinician, researcher, and consultant as each relates to the field of massage therapy.
The massage therapist supports the processes of care delivery, referral, and staff training and development.
Tasks and responsibilities include
- Utilizes the process of planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide massage therapy for patients and families and positively impacts factors which influence quality of life
- Maintains continuity of care of maintaining therapeutic involvement with patient across settings
- Provides appropriate documentation with a focus on therapeutic plan to meet goals, accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to documentation legalities
- Regularly attends Interdisciplinary Team Meetings to collaborate with other care team members
- Demonstrates collegiality and a team player approach to practice
- Contributes to the provision of a healing health care environment for patients, families, and staff
- Provides the opportunity for patients, families and staff to experience the success of massage therapy
Location: South Team (ex: St. Paul, Inver Grove Heights, Maplewood)
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
Required Qualifications:
- Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
- Completion of educational program from an American Massage Therapy Association approved school preferred
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from an accredited university with a complimentary or holistic health focus preferred
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients
- Evidence of integrity, good judgment, and initiative
- Ability to collaborate with other disciplines
- Ability and willingness to champion initiatives and to motivate and lead others along the way
- Willingness to make critical evaluations and commit self to action when necessary
- Strong personal demonstrated belief in continuous self-improvement and professional development
- Committed to involvement in professional activities and to representing massage therapy at Methodist in organizational and community functions
- Individuals are responsible for the travel arrangements required to meet the expectations of the position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Massage Therapy Certification
- Previous experience in a Hospice Massage Therapist role
