Department Overview
With offices located around the world, the strength of TD Securities Global Operations and Business Services lies in the diverse and dynamic group of individuals who provide critical infrastructure services that support and/or control the trading, investment and corporate banking functions of TD Securities.
The FX Global Capital Markets Operations team is part of Global Operations and Business Services and partners with multiple Sales & Trading teams and other areas within TD Securities globally to mitigate risk for the Dealer and our clients. We strive to empower innovation while maintaining strong partnerships with the businesses we support as part of our high-performance culture.
We are a global team with teams also located in London and Singapore and responsible for performing operational risk management functions to protect the accuracy and efficiency at every step of the FX trade life cycle. The team is heavily involved in strategic initiatives and projects, business development and process improvements to optimize efficiency, enhance client service levels and reduce risk.
Responsibilities
- Ensure FX transactions including trades, settlements and lifecycle management transactions are properly managed, posted and reported accurately to clients daily.
- Investigate any trade discrepancies that may result in a significant risk and/or loss to the Bank and immediately escalate to management and Sales & Trading teams.
- Investigate missing funds, reach out to counterparties and brokers to obtain Swift of payment and liaise with treasury to settle.
- Overall accountability and governance of cash break investigations liaising with clients, correspondent banks, Sales & Trading and other partners to resolve within procedural guidelines.
- Develop and maintain sound working relationships with our clients and internal groups to ensure a high level of service is provided on an ongoing basis.
- Explore and deliver process improvements to drive efficiency and streamline the FX trade life cycle.
- Be accountable for own work and sometimes others; act as an escalation point for others in own team
- Assist colleagues in maintaining business processes and providing second level verification of manually entered transactions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of related industry experience, preferably in Capital Markets or Investment Banking with knowledge of FX products, including Spot/Forwards, Swaps, Non-Deliverable Forwards (NDF’s) and OTC FX Options.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships
- Meticulous attention to detail along with a risk management and analytical mindset
- Solid understanding of position and cash reconciliation
- General Ledger (GL) system experience and basic accounting skills
- Working knowledge of SWIFT messaging and international payment formatting
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook); technical proficiency in Excel is a must, including VBA (able to understand macros) and SQL (can write simple queries)
- Ability to work independently and perform under pressure with confidence
- Strong ability to problem-solve and prioritize work
- Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
