Position SummaryThe Assistant Vice President (AVP), Clinical Technology Systems & Interoperability is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational oversight, integration, and optimization of enterprise clinical technology platforms across the organization. This executive leader drives interoperability strategy, clinical systems governance, vendor management, and cross-functional technology enablement to support high-quality, scalable, and data-driven care delivery.
The AVP partners closely with clinical operations, informatics, digital product, analytics, compliance, and IT infrastructure teams to ensure clinical systems are secure, interoperable, user-centered, and aligned with organizational objectives. This role oversees the architecture and execution of integrations between EHRs, population health platforms, payer systems, care management tools, CRM platforms, and third-party clinical applications.
The ideal candidate combines deep healthcare technology expertise with operational leadership, interoperability architecture experience, and a strong understanding of clinical workflows and value-based care models.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the enterprise strategy for clinical technology systems and interoperability.
- Lead modernization and optimization initiatives across clinical applications and integration platforms.
- Establish long-term interoperability roadmaps aligned with organizational growth, regulatory requirements, and digital transformation priorities.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on clinical technology capabilities, risks, and innovation opportunities.
- Drive alignment between clinical operations, IT, data governance, and product strategy.
Clinical Systems Oversight
- Oversee administration, performance, governance, and optimization of clinical technology platforms, including:
- Electronic Health Records (EHRs)
- Population health management systems
- Clinical documentation tools
- Referral management systems
- Telehealth and remote monitoring platforms
- Clinical decision support technologies
- Ensure systems support operational efficiency, clinician usability, patient engagement, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead prioritization and governance processes for clinical systems enhancements and upgrades.
- Establish SLAs, KPIs, and operational performance standards for clinical technology services.
Interoperability & Integration Leadership
- Lead enterprise interoperability architecture and integration strategy using standards such as:
- HL7
- FHIR
- CCD/CCDA
- APIs
- Oversee development and maintenance of interfaces between internal and external systems.
- Ensure scalable, secure, and reliable data exchange across providers, payers, laboratories, pharmacies, and partner organizations.
- Collaborate with data and analytics teams to improve data quality, normalization, governance, and accessibility.
- Drive interoperability initiatives that support value-based care, quality reporting, risk adjustment, and care coordination.
Operational & Team Leadership
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams including:
- Clinical applications
- Integration analysts
- Interoperability specialists
- Clinical informatics professionals
- Vendor management resources
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships.
- Establish governance structures and change management processes for clinical technology initiatives.
Compliance, Security & Risk Management
- Ensure clinical systems and integrations comply with:
- HIPAA
- HITECH
- CMS interoperability requirements
- Information blocking regulations
- Security and privacy standards
- Partner with cybersecurity and compliance teams to mitigate operational and technical risk.
- Support audit readiness, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity efforts.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong partnerships with clinical, operational, financial, and technical leaders.
- Translate complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies.
- Serve as an escalation point for enterprise clinical technology issues and strategic initiatives.
Represent the organization with external partners, vendors, and industry forums.
