This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Software Engineer based in the United States.
This role sits at the intersection of hands-on engineering excellence and technical leadership, contributing directly to the evolution of a complex, data-driven platform. You will design, build, and scale systems that power geospatial and agronomic insights used to optimize real-world agricultural decisions. Beyond writing high-quality code, you will help shape architecture, guide technical direction, and elevate engineering practices across teams. The environment is collaborative and fast-moving, with close partnerships between engineers, data scientists, and product stakeholders. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving deep technical problems while still staying close to implementation. You will also play a mentoring role, helping grow engineers and strengthen system-wide thinking.

Requirements
This role requires 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production systems at scale. You bring strong expertise in Node.js and React, along with deep fluency in modern JavaScript (ES6+). You have hands-on experience working with AWS, microservices architectures, and containerized systems using Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with spatial data, GIS systems, or location-based services is strongly valued given the domain complexity. You are comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (such as Cursor or Claude Code) as part of your daily workflow while maintaining strong engineering rigor and code ownership.
You are a collaborative engineer who thrives in cross-functional environments and communicates effectively across technical and non-technical teams. You have a strong sense of ownership, a passion for clean system design, and a desire to help others grow. Experience with Python or familiarity with LLM APIs and AI-powered production features is a plus. Above all, you bring curiosity, humility, and a strong commitment to building high-quality software that lasts.
