The P&C CAD Drafter is responsible for preparing and maintaining detailed AutoCAD drawings for protection, control, and SCADA projects. This role supports engineering teams by converting markups, design inputs, and technical requirements into accurate drawing packages, including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, panel layouts, schematics, communication diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, wiring diagrams, fiber routing diagrams, and cable schedules. The ideal candidate has direct experience drafting utility or power-sector protection and control deliverables, understands drafting standards and guidelines, and can collaborate effectively with engineers in a remote environment based in our Panama City offices.
Responsibilities
How you can make an impact:
- Prepare and revise AutoCAD drawings for protection, control, and SCADA projects, including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, panel layouts, panel elevations, DC schematics, AC schematics, communication diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, wiring block diagrams, fiber routing diagrams, and cable schedules
- Convert engineering markups, sketches, redlines, and technical inputs into accurate, complete, and well-organized CAD deliverables
- Support development of drawing packages for substations, utility infrastructure, and related power-sector projects
- Draft and maintain drawings involving SEL and Cisco equipment layouts, connections, and related design information
- Apply company, client, and industry drafting standards, guidelines, templates, symbols, and naming conventions
- Coordinate with protection and control engineers, SCADA engineers, and project teams to clarify design intent and resolve drafting issues
- Perform quality checks for drawing accuracy, consistency, completeness, and revision control before issue
- Maintain organized project files, drawing sets, and version history in accordance with project requirements
- Support updates to existing drawings, as-built revisions, and construction or engineering drawing packages as needed
Qualifications
Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:
- Electrical, Telecommunications, Electronics or Electromechanical Engineer
- 3+ years of direct experience with AutoCAD drafting for protection, control, and SCADA drawings
- Demonstrated experience preparing single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, panel layouts, panel elevations, DC schematics, AC schematics, communication diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, wiring block diagrams, fiber routing diagrams, and cable schedules
- Familiarity with SEL and Cisco equipment design and related drafting requirements
- Strong understanding of drafting standards, drawing guidelines, templates, symbols, layering, annotation, and revision practices
- Ability to read and interpret engineering markups, design sketches, specifications, equipment information, and project standards
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate, high-quality drawing packages
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams in a remote work environment
- Ability to manage drawing updates, priorities, and deadlines across multiple project assignments
- Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity, and innovation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting utility, substation, transmission, distribution, or renewable energy projects
- Experience with protection and control drawing packages, SCADA/communications drawings, and utility client standards
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, document control platforms, or similar review and markup tools
- Experience working with remote engineering teams and maintaining disciplined communication, file organization, and revision tracking
