Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to HQ Building in Shanghai, China full time.
The Role -
The GM Audit Services (GMAS) main goals are to identify and address key risks, improve operational efficiencies, enhance the controls environment, and provide value-added services to our business partners to achieve the company’s business objectives.
The GMAS Automotive Audit Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution of risk-based audit plans and managing a team to evaluate operational, financial, compliance, manufacturing, commercial, and strategic risks across GM’s International Operations (Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, and other assigned regions).
What You’ll Do -
Support the GMAS Regional Audit Director in developing and executing a comprehensive risk-based audit program for International Operations.
Lead the annual risk assessment process and development of the audit plan.
Identify and assess key risks across the region, ensuring appropriate audit coverage.
Manage the execution of audit projects, ensuring audits address GM and GMAS strategic priorities, business objectives, risks, performance requirements, and control processes.
Lead and supervise internal audit professionals and co-sources to effectively deliver audit commitments and maximize team performance.
Oversee the development and execution of Continuous Business Monitoring and Risk Assessment processes to proactively identify emerging risks.
Effectively communicate with management, co-source partners, external auditors, and operational leadership.
Ensure key findings and risks are communicated in a timely and effective manner. Ensure root causes are appropriately identified and management action plans effectively address underlying issues.
Participate in major business initiatives and aggressively advise and assists the business on change initiatives
Develop a strong understanding of GM’s global operations, including manufacturing, supply chain, sales, aftersales, product development, and regional business models.
Hire, coach, mentor, train, and develop audit staff while fostering a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative team environment.
Promote and demonstrate GM behaviors.
Stay current on emerging risks, internal audit methodologies, automotive industry developments, regulatory requirements, and leading practices.
Participate in ongoing professional development.
Serve as a brand ambassador for One GMAS and promote collaboration across global audit teams.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Proficient English and Chinese oral and written communication skills.
Eight years or more of managerial and leadership experience.
Twelve years or more of professional experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, operations, compliance, or other relevant business disciplines.
College degree in Audit, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Computer Science or a related field.
Professional certification such as CIA, CPA, CISA, or other relevant certifications.
Extensive knowledge of risk-based auditing methodologies, internal controls, governance, compliance, and enterprise risk management.
Strong understanding of automotive industry operations, including manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, logistics, sales, aftersales, engineering, product development, or corporate functions.
Strong understanding of financial, operational, compliance, strategic, and fraud risks within a global organization.
Demonstrated experience leading complex audits and risk assessments across multiple functions, geographies, and business environments.
Strong ability to interpret and apply audit standards, accounting principles, internal control frameworks, and risk management practices.
Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to develop high-performing teams.
Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities.
Strong interpersonal, influencing, and relationship-management skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of management.
Effective project management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
Highly self-motivated with strong professional judgment and integrity.
Ability to quickly understand new and complex business processes and assess related risks and controls.
Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic and evolving business environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and audit management software.
Ability to travel up to 50%.

"Big 4" audit or consulting firm experience.
Proficient Korean oral and written communication skills.
Joint Venture experience.
Knowledge of data analytics, continuous auditing, and emerging technologies.
Prior experience in manufacturing operations, supply chain, purchasing, engineering, sales, or other key automotive business functions.
