Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Unit Aide, you will provide essential non-clinical support and comfort to patients and staff, assisting other members of the healthcare team with providing basic patient care under the direction of a Staff Nurse.Every day you will support daily unit operations by assisting with patient comfort needs, transporting patients, performing light cleaning, stocking supplies, and relaying messages to nurses to ensure an organized environment.To be successful in this role, you will exhibit a helpful, compassionate demeanor, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining unit efficiency and team support within a dynamic healthcare setting.
- Performs basic patient care under the direction of the RN which includes assisting with patient ADL routine, measurement of intake and output and obtaining vital signs
- Completes appropriate documentation which includes patient records ensuring it is completed according to hospital policy
- Assumes responsibility for professional growth by taking advantage of the available opportunities
- Participates in peer review and staff development, which includes unit and quality process improvement activities
- Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict
- Communicates as appropriate with other members of the healthcare team
Job Requirements
Required
- Previous Unit Aide experience. If operationally able, Hospital will consider training a non-experienced incumbent
- High School diploma or equivalent
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR
Preferred
- Experience in healthcare environment
- Certified Nursing Assistant: CNA
