GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, documents, and configures systems specifications that conform to defined architecture standards, address business requirements, and processes.
- Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting hardware and software compliance and security standards.
- Evaluates interface between hardware and software, operational requirements and characteristics of overall system.
- Establishes and documents system design, parameters and formats, ensures hardware and software systems functionality, performance and compatibility, and coordinates and/or modifies system parameters in terms of configurations, such as existing and projected computing capacity and capabilities.
- Actively identifies system functionality or performance deficiencies, executes changes to existing systems, and tests functionality of the system to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, data integrity, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.
- May document testing and maintenance of system updates, modifications, and configurations. May act as a liaison with key technology vendor technologists or other business functions.
- Responsible for defining and owning platform security compliance, meeting performance benchmarks, improving user experience and efficiency by providing technical leadership and guidance
- Ability to navigate challenges within large IT organization by reaching and coordinating multiple cross functional teams
- Ability to influence technical direction and constructively challenge existing approaches to improve outcomes for the improvement of the system and the organization
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (FIRST 6-12 MONTHS)
- Improve platform stability and performance under peak transaction volumes
- Reduce reliance on vendor-led technical decisions by strengthening internal architecture ownership
- Modernize integrations and improve efficiency across enterprise systems
- Enhance deployment speed and quality through automation and CI/CD improvements
- Improve SDLC efficiency and delivery velocity using AI tools and optimizing processes by working with Medtronic and vendor teams
ROLE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the end-to-end technical architecture and performance of the MyCASE platform and associated systems
- Lead technical decision-making, including architecture design approvals and solution direction
- Drive accountability across internal teams and vendor partners to ensure alignment with architecture and engineering standards
- Lead system design, configuration, and architecture for enterprise applications, ensuring alignment with business and technology standards
- Own technical specifications including APIs, integrations, and system design documentation
- Drive cloud architecture, performance optimization, and platform scalability across applications
- Define and implement non-functional requirements including performance, security, and reliability
- Identify and resolve system performance issues, implement continuous improvements, and ensure high availability
- Lead system testing, data integrity validation, and overall system quality assurance
- Oversee deployment planning and ensure compliance with security and enterprise standards
- Establish monitoring, logging, and automation strategies to improve operational stability and efficiency
- Act as a technical liaison across IT teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to align priorities and execution
- Drive CI/CD, automation, and engineering best practices to improve delivery speed and quality
- Provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and guide project execution across initiatives
- Contribute to technology strategy and solution design to enhance user experience and business outcomes
- Drive evaluation and adoption of approved AI-enabled capabilities and automation solutions that improve engineering productivity, operational efficiency, platform reliability, and user experience while adhering to Medtronic governance and security requirements.
- Develop and maintain a multi-year technical roadmap for MyCASE and related Spine platforms, aligning business objectives, platform modernization, cloud strategy, automation, and integration priorities.
- Provide technical governance and oversight for vendor-delivered solutions through architecture reviews, code quality standards, design reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Ensure technology solutions support business growth, operational efficiency, customer experience, and revenue-critical processes.
- Accountable for platform observability, including monitoring, logging, alerting, operational metrics, and reliability engineering practices.
MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)
- High school diploma (or equivalent) and 4+ years of experience
NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)
- Previous Medtronic experience strongly preferred
- Proven experience designing and scaling enterprise applications under high volume and performance demands
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS or equivalent), including performance optimization and cost management
- Deep understanding of API design, system integration, and distributed architecture patterns
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, automation, and modern DevOps practices
- Experience in working with AI tools and knowledge in market leading AI tools and capabilities
- Experience in working with enterprise platform in leading performance improvements and AI adoption
- Experience in working with large IT organization and expertise in working with cross functional teams
- Hands-on experience owning production systems at scale (high transaction volume, multi-region environments)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Solid experience in system design, application architecture, and integration concepts (APIs, data flows)
- Experience working in cloud-based environments and managing application performance and reliability (implied from responsibilities)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across teams and stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives with minimal supervision
- Experience with SAP Commerce Cloud and AWS cloud platforms
- Hands-on experience with Java, React, and modern application development frameworks
- Experience designing and developing APIs and integrating multiple enterprise systems
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, application monitoring, and cloud configuration practices
- Experience leading security, performance, and quality improvement initiatives
- Understanding of e-commerce platforms, architecture, and domain concepts

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California.
