This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: As a Senior Design Engineer, the incumbent completes complex assignments involving design and review of hazardous and toxic waste (HTW) projects, wastewater treatment/disposal systems, water supply, treatment and distribution systems, and other water/wastewater-related utilities. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will: Complete complex assignments involving design and review of hazardous and toxic waste (HTW) projects, wastewater treatment/disposal systems and water supply, treatment and distribution systems. Apply acquired specialized experience and technical knowledge of the complex physical, chemical and biological processes involved in controlling the quality of water resources and in the destruction of hazardous and toxic wastes. Perform investigations and/or special studies to establish process feasibility, define project scope and select most cost-effective design. Research design manuals, catalogs, periodicals and other technical material for new and innovative ways to solve environmental engineering problems. Act as an advisor to Construction Division and regulatory agencies on problems during construction phase.
