Position Overview
Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our growing Gastroenterology team in Frisco, Texas. This position offers a unique blend of inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology, allowing providers to care for patients across the continuum while working alongside an experienced and supportive team of Gastroenterologists and Advanced Practice Providers.
The Physician Assistant will spend mornings providing inpatient consults and rounding at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Centennial and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – PGA Parkway, followed by afternoons in the outpatient Gastroenterology clinic at PGA Parkway. This role focuses on the medical management of general GI patients and does not include procedural responsibilities or first assisting.
Providers with a strong internal medicine or primary care background who have an interest in Gastroenterology are encouraged to apply. Extensive specialty training and mentorship will be provided.
Practice Highlights

- Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Centennial
- Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – PGA Parkway
- Afternoon outpatient clinic at PGA Parkway
- Monday – Friday schedule
- Daytime hours (typically 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
- Morning rounds may begin earlier depending on patient census
- No call
- No weekends
- No procedures
- No first assist responsibilities
- Excellent physician mentorship and structured onboarding
- Epic electronic medical record
Essential Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations for gastroenterology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Perform daily inpatient rounding and evaluate new Gastroenterology consults.
- Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic testing.
- Develop evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with supervising Gastroenterologists.
- Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments within scope of practice.
- Coordinate patient care with hospitalists, primary care providers, specialists, nursing, and ancillary teams.
- Manage follow-up care for patients transitioning from the hospital to the outpatient clinic.
- Provide patient education regarding gastrointestinal diseases, medications, nutrition, preventive care, and lifestyle modifications.
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
- Initiate referrals and consultations when appropriate.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with Baylor Scott & White policies and clinical standards.

Qualifications
Required Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Required Licensure & Certifications
- Current Texas Physician Assistant license
- Current NCCPA certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Advanced Practice Provider experience preferred
- Experience in Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Family Medicine, or a related medical specialty is welcomed
- Demonstrated interest in Gastroenterology
- Acute care and inpatient experience preferred but not required
- Candidates committed to learning the specialty will receive comprehensive training and mentorship

QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program
- EXPERIENCE - Preferred 2 years of Physician Assistant Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Physician Assistants (PA): Must have a PA license through the state of TX.
