The Senior Electrical and Maintenance Engineer will be a key member of our team, responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex manufacturing equipment. This role requires a hands-on approach and a strong understanding of electrical systems, with a focus on thin film deposition vacuum systems. The ideal candidate will have has basic knowledge of LabView software controls. This position is in a 24-7 manufacturing environment and the person must be able to work independently and as part of a team to keep operations running.
Responsibilities:
Safety
- Ensure all equipment adheres to safety standards (OSHA, NEC) and "implement robust electrical safety protocols for high-voltage applications to protect personnel and equipment."
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Work to eliminate unsafe conditions.
- Maintenance & Repair:
- Perform troubleshooting and repair of existing equipment, spanning low-voltage DC circuits, HMI, sensor interfaces, and computer systems to AC line voltage and high-voltage, three-phase power supplies.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
- Programming & Control Systems:
- maintain current software for equipment control and automation.
- Should know basic programming languages and software hierarchy Python and C++
- "Experience with data acquisition using National Instruments-based hardware systems (DAQmx, cRIO, cDAQ, or PXI)" is preferred.
- Utilize programming skills for "PLC programming and human-machine interface (HMI) development, ensuring intuitive and efficient operation of automated processes."
- "Develop software/firmware for microcontrollers and computer interfaces to manage process parameters, data logging, and safety interlocks."
- Utilize AI to enhance systems and controls, reduce down time and analyze PM data trends
- Technical Expertise:
- Knowledge of "vacuum technology systems, including pumps, gauges, and mass flow controllers, and thin-film deposition principles (PVD/CVD) to optimize equipment functionality" is a plus.
- Ensure all equipment adheres to safety standards (OSHA, NEC) and "implement robust electrical safety protocols for high-voltage applications to protect personnel and equipment."
- Equipment Design & Development:
- Design and build new electrical systems for bespoke manufacturing equipment, ensuring seamless integration with existing processes.
- Develop detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions for new and modified equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer science, Automation Engineering, or a related cross functional degree with related experience in the field.
- Should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Maintenance engineer in a high tech industry
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, specifically with vacuum systems or semiconductor equipment preferred.
- "Strong proficiency in trouble shooting, reading and interpreting electrical schematics, and technical documentation."
Experience with a range of electrical components, from "low-power logic circuits and sensor technology to high-power three phase power supplies."

- Maintain and optimize vacuum systems, ensuring their efficient operation.
- Perform regular maintenance and inspections to identify potential issues and prevent equipment downtime.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure smooth 24/7 operations and provide timely support.
- Document all maintenance activities, creating detailed reports and records.
- Train and mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering.
- Work closely with the R&D team to implement new technologies and improvements.
- Ensure health and safety standards are met during maintenance activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (BSEE, BSCE, or equivalent).
- 5+ years of experience in electrical troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment.
- Strong knowledge of vacuum systems is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with computer interfacing and electrical system diagnostics.
- Basic knowledge of LabView software controls, with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently, often requiring extended work hours.
