What You Will Do:
Guidehouse is seeking a candidate to provide Scientific Engineer Technical Assistance (SETA) in the area of “nonlinear optics” with the overall aim to achieve orders of magnitude improvement in power efficiency and nonlinear effects. The efforts will focus on material science, waveguide design, and fabrication approaches to achieve such nonlinear optics capabilities. The underlying photonic technologies are expected to draw from diverse disciplines, covering, but not limited to, optics, integrated photonics, electrical engineering, materials engineering, physics, and fabrication experience. Approaches will consider a wide gamut of technologies, to include but are not limited to photonic and nonlinear materials and devices, second and third order nonlinearities, analog and digital signal processing, communications, neural networks, and novel computing architectures.
In support of this Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) client, you will:
Lead periodic performer assessments to analyze program, technical and schedule risks; develop risk mitigation strategies; communicate findings to the government program manager
Support the government program manager in program definition and pitch preparations
Support research solicitation and special notices
Provide technical guidance on reports, briefings, and other performer communications
Internal presentations and report preparation for DARPA and other government agencies
Program administration, including development of technical analyses, identification of technology gaps, technical risk management, project cost estimation, technology transfer efforts, as well as supporting technical reviews
Stakeholder engagement in unconventional computing and systems that use this across the IC, DoD, and services
Interagency engagement, including coordination activities with the IC, DoD, DoE, DoC, and potentially international partnership
What You Will Need:
An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance
Master’s degree in an Engineering or Science discipline
FOUR (4) or more years' experience in technical project management and/or as a technical liaison. Experience should include, but not be limited to:
Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar areas needed to broadly support the PM’s portfolio of unconventional computing programs
Proficiency in the use of large language model tools for subject matter analysis and reporting
Excellent communication skills - both written (to include PowerPoint) and oral
Self-starter who is willing to both take the lead and provide support in a team role in a complex, fast-paced, cross-disciplinary work environment
Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task and respond to quick turn-around requests
Flexible and readily adaptable to change
PhD in an engineering or science discipline may be used in lieu of FOUR (4) of the required years' experience.
