Team members join a mission-focused environment dedicated to aligning technology with human-centric outcomes.Role Description The Lead Software Engineer will oversee the design, development, and implementation of core platform services that power ETHIS’s AI-enabled and human-governed ecosystem. This full-time remote role includes leading technical architecture decisions, reviewing code, and mentoring engineers to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable back-end systems. The person in this role will collaborate closely with product, AI, and operations teams to translate ethical technology principles into robust software solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include hands-on programming, guiding best practices in software development, improving development workflows, and supporting integration with external partners and data sources. The Lead Software Engineer will also contribute to technical roadmaps, help set engineering standards, and actively participate in problem-solving for complex, mission-aligned initiatives.QualificationsStrong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and systems design.Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience building and maintaining production-grade applications.Hands-on expertise in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, microservices, databases, and performance optimization.Solid understanding and practical use of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.Experience leading engineering teams or projects, including code review, mentoring, and setting technical direction.Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern DevOps practices such as CI/CD and automated testing.Ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote, cross-functional, and mission-driven environment.Commitment to ethical technology, responsible AI, and inclusive innovation; prior work in related domains is a plus.Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
