Trust Payments have an exciting opportunity for a Development Manager to join our Trust Retail team.
 
Location: Hybrid - Bournemouth, United Kingdom 
Salary: Competitive + Benefits


***During your 3 months period, you'll be based in the office full-time, after 3 months, you'll have the opportunity to move to a hybrid working pattern.

Please note that due to the nature of this role, all shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an in-person interview at our Bournemouth office.
 
How will you make an impact in this role?
We are seeking a Software Development Manager to join the Trust Payments Retail Team. As a Development Manager, you will be working with your team to ensure software projects are delivered on time and to a high standard. You will own the software development strategy followed by the team, identifying and implementing improvements as required. Working alongside the Delivery Manager and project leads you will ensure projects are well refined, developed, tested and delivered. You will be involved in all stages of the software project lifecycle, including presales activity. This is a client-facing role. Due to the nature of projects this role requires the applicant to work onsite for the first 3 months, after this period a hybrid alternative may be considered.

This role includes participation in an on-call Rota, providing 24/7 support coverage for a one-week period approximately every 5 to 6 weeks (subject to Rota size at any given time).
  • On-call allowance: A fixed additional payment is provided for each on-call week, compensating for your availability during that period
  • Time Off in Lieu (TOIL): Where work is carried out significantly outside of standard working hours, TOIL will be accrued accordingly

What We Expect of You, Day To Day:
  • Take ownership of our development strategy and ensure our development processes allow us to meet that strategy. Ensure this is shared and understood across teams.
  • Ensure all software development is performed to the highest standard in accordance with the strategy.
  • Represent the development team on calls with internal and external stakeholders, often facilitating discussions regarding development.
  • Have early involvement in new projects, provide business deliverables, estimates, and produce project development plans.
  • Continue to reflect and improve on our development strategy, processes, and tooling. Advocate for changes throughout the development and wider technical teams.
  • Working alongside the test manager to be aware of the latest data protection and security threats and ensure we mitigate against these risks by adopting best practices throughout the SDLC.
  • Gather and report on metrics of the progress of projects.
  • Line management of senior software developers, support self-development initiatives, support study for qualifications, coach and mentor.
  • Comply with all legislation, codes of practice, health and safety and GDPR compliance appropriate to the role

Qualifications
Required
  • 7+ years' experience as a development manager or senior developer.
  • Experience in Java, Android, C#, Kotlin or other relevant object-oriented programming languages. Full stack development experience and solution design using microservice architectures.
  • Cloud infrastructure design experience.
  • Understanding of the Agile methodology and processes.
  • Experience in managing teams and projects, and line management.
  • Experience managing internal and external stakeholders, and facilitating client meetings.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, sharing knowledge and mentoring team members.
