Responsibilities:
Assists Chief of Outpatient Occupational Therapy – in related administrative functions as a Senior Outpatient Occupational Therapist, assist in the daily supervision of the outpatient OT staff at the Clinton Crossings location as well as in absence of the Chief. Assists in direct supervision of the OT staff and students; performs related administrative functions; performs all duties of Staff Occupational Therapist.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists Chief in supervision of staff: at the CC location and off sites as needed:
- May lead work of one or several Staff Occupational Therapists. Upon a physician’s referral and own evaluation of patient’s rehabilitation needs, assigns the patient to staff, suggests types of treatments, guides and checks treatments given by staff members.
- Assists Chief with staff recruitment, interviewing and hiring, and training and performance reviews according to all University of Rochester Health policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participates in on-the-job training of Staff of University of Rochester and PMR Outpatient OT departmental policies.
- Teaches, mentors, directs, guides and evaluates performance of staff.
- Participates in on-the-job training of new therapists. Assists Chief in evaluating performance of new therapists
- Refers difficult or complex problems of treatment and supervision to the Chief of Outpatient Occupational Therapy

Performs administrative tasks for clinic operations such as:
- Monitor, purchase equipment and supplies for all the CC OT locations as directed by the Chief
- Assures that clinic equipment is clean, operational and in good repair; notifies clinical engineering for repairs as needed.
- Assists with workque management, template changes, scheduling as directed by the Chief
- Completes program development as needed and directed by Chief of Outpatient OT to meet the needs of the University of Rochester and their affiliates
- Prepares policy and procedural change communications, organizes meetings and staffing in-services for staff as needed and as directed by Chief of Outpatient OT.
- Participates in the educational committee and assists in planning in-services, symposiums, student clinical affiliations, as needed.
- Attends and represents the department and/or Chief at a variety of professional meetings within the hospital (e.g.. administrative meetings), and outside the University (e.g. conferences, as a speaker on career panels at local schools or teaching at colleges, etc.)
- Recommends improvements, e.g. policy changes, new equipment, etc for considerations by superiors.
- Ensures compliance of department with all University or Rochester, Article 28, JCAHO, and other regulatory requirements and reports status to Chief as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or Bachelor’s with certificate in Occupational Therapy.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Requires NYS licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
- Membership in professional organizations such as the American Occupational Therapy Association, New York State Occupational Therapy Association as desired.
