Job Description
Role Summary
The Senior Network Architect is responsible for the design, evolution, and technical integrity of Rockwell Automation's global network architecture. This role focuses on building scalable, secure, and automated network platforms across the enterprise.
You will act as a hands-on architect with deep expertise in Cisco, Palo Alto, and F5, driving architecture decisions and guiding the team toward infrastructure-as-code and automation-first delivery. This is an individual contributor role with no people management responsibilities.
You will report to the Senior IT Manager, Global Network and have a hybrid schedule working in Katowice, Poland.
Your Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end network architecture across planning, design, deployment, modernization, and retirement.
- Define and maintain global network architecture standards and reference designs.
- Design and implement scalable, resilient network solutions across on‑prem and hybrid cloud environments.
- Drive adoption of network automation and network-as-code, including CI/CD-based deployment models.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to automate configuration, deployment, upgrades, and lifecycle activities.
- Develop and maintain high-level and detailed network architecture diagrams and documentation.
- Serve as senior technical authority for complex design decisions and architectural tradeoffs.
- Lead proactive lifecycle activities such as software currency, bug remediation, and platform modernization.
- Participate in complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical network issues.
- Collaborate closely with Network Security to ensure architectures meet security, regulatory, and business requirements.
- Advocate best practices and mentor engineers in modern network architecture and automation approaches.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience designing and operating large-scale enterprise networks.
- Deep expertise in enterprise networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF).
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking, Palo Alto firewalls, and F5 load balancing.
- Proven experience designing production-ready network architectures.
- Strong understanding of network lifecycle management and platform evolution.
The Preferred: You Might Also Have:
- CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure certified or CCIE level expertise.
- Experience with network automation and infrastructure-as-code (Python, Ansible, Git).
- Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines applied to network deployments.
- Experience with SD-WAN and modern enterprise networking architectures.
- Hybrid cloud networking experience (Azure preferred).
- Strong technical documentation skills.
- Familiarity with ITIL and Agile delivery models.
