The successful candidate will create sustainable processes standards while driving opportunities to reduce delivery cycle times and improve quality without impacting network availability. The mission of the team is to deliver network capacity on time with zero rework.
The Network Deployment Manager will manage the implementation and delivery of inbound capacity and equipment in a data center or colocation environment. The Network Deployment Manager will be responsible for growing a team within a geographic region and oversee their development and growth. The ideal candidate will have experience managing and mentoring people, tracking budgets, providing strategic direction, and proposing technical solutions. They will ultimately be responsible for installing and delivering network equipment and related infrastructure, as well as driving low voltage structured cabling across the AWS network platform.
Key job responsibilities
- Prioritize and assign deployment tasks to field technicians.
- Coordinate team resources to deliver project tasks including, cross team support, change management, maintenance window support, and potential off-hour needs.
- Manage inbound racks and hardware from receiving through on-site deployment milestones.
- Manage the quality of vendor installed cabling and associated orders in a data center environment.
- Apply project management skills, provide coaching and create internal documentation.
- Guide, train and educate staff on deployment processes and required customer SLAs.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports supporting MBRs, internal metrics and team goals.
- Handle project escalations, host weekly staff meetings and cross functional partnerships.
- Recruit and train field technicians while maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
- Recommend, document, and oversee AWS policies and procedures.
- Partner cross functionally to drive awareness and compliance of AWS safety standards.

- 3+ years of data center engineering or operations experience
- Travel up to 20% of the time
- 3+ years of proven technical team management experience
- Experience with network hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers
- Experience developing operational metrics
- Experience representing your team or technical area to senior management
- Experience in creating process improvement procedures
- Experience in employee and performance management
- 5+ years managing a team of technicians or field engineers in a data center or colocation environment.
- Broad understanding of data center and/or colocation infrastructure, installation and cage/room design.
- Demonstrated knowledge of optical technologies including DWDM.
- Experience building physical connectivity using copper and fiber optic cabling.
- Strong organizational and planning skills including time management.

Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field- 3+ years of data center engineering or operations experience
