The Multi-Product Power & Digital (MPD) department designs and tests FPGAs, circuit cards, and electronics subassemblies for a range of products including missiles/effectors, radars, and electronic warfare systems. The team leverages digital, analog, power, and test design skills to provide support throughout the product lifecycle from architecture and design through production and sustainment.
The MPD department is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to join our team as a section leader for the Subsystem Integration and Test section.
This position is an onsite role.
The Section Leader will provide functional leadership and exhibit advanced knowledge of digital electronics CCA design. As a functional manager, the candidate will work with section members to provide career guidance, performance feedback, and technical leadership to enable the employees for success. As a digital engineer, the section leader will have a program role supporting a radar product line based in McKinney, TX. Responsibilities will be split between supporting program(s) as an engineer (~85%) and providing functional leadership to the section (~15%).
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
As a functional leader, the section manager will add the following responsibilities to his or her program role:
- Manage a section of 15 to 20 engineers.
- Drive results with a strong work ethic
- Apply active listening, empathy, and conflict resolution
- Enable career development for direct reports
- Develop training curricula, provide technical and process mentoring, and leadership skill development
- Lead functional and cross-disciplinary teams to meet organizational goals and project needs through team leadership
- Support program staffing needs working with program leadership.
- Support hiring (resume reviews, interviews, etc.) and annual compensation planning
- Elicit and compile performance feedback to support Performance Impact
- Hold required Performance Discussions (PD) where compiled feedback, key strengths and development needs are conveyed
- Work closely with other section managers, the department manager, the program management office, senior managers, senior staff engineers, systems engineers, and other development team members
- Ensure labor charging accuracy compliance
The radar program responsibilities will be tailored to the applicable skillset of the candidate but may include:
- Lead the design, analysis, test, and documentation of digital electronics circuit card assemblies including embedded processors, FPGAs, memories, and industry standard interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
- Partner with ECAD drafters through stackup definition, pre/post-route simulation (SI/PI), layout, and routing activities.
- Plan and execute integration and verification activities in engineering laboratories.
- Provide product test and troubleshoot support. Support root cause failure investigations.
- Drive execution to the planned budget and schedule.
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
- Lead medium sized teams to success.
- Coach, review, and delegate work to junior engineers.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert within discipline.
- Lead internal and external technical reviews.
- Support customer interactions and relations.
- Interface with the factory on the build and testing of sub-assemblies
- Support the sustainment team and assist SMEs in the evaluation of repaired subsystems for return to the field
- Interface between program engineering and program management
- Coordinate the status of the technical issues with the program technical leadership team
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- CCA design and test experience
- Product test and troubleshoot, inclusive of dispositions in factory manufacturing execution systems,
- Hardware and software test equipment development,
- Project management using an execution framework such as earned value management or Agile methodologies,
Qualifications We Value:
- One or more advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major. A suitable degree may be counted as 2 years of work experience.
- Experience with factory manufacturing execution systems
- Experience serving as a Hardware Architect, Control Account Manager (CAM), Cross Product Team Lead, and/or Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL)
- Experience in creating and presenting professional level design documentation to company leadership and program customers
- Experience with workforce planning and staffing forecasts
- A strong advocate for process improvement
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical and schedule risks and to identify cost reduction opportunities
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems (cost/schedule development and management)
- Development of technical proposals, engineering project estimates, and/or white papers
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Experience designing at the circuit card stack level to meet concerns of adjacent disciplines, such as thermal, structural, mechanical, reliability, and quality.
- Experience with embedded test techniques, design for test, design for manufacturing, and/or design margin analysis
- Experience with a formal design process for circuit card assemblies.
- Proven ability to debug and resolve complex hardware issues during integration and qualification testing.
- Advanced knowledge of high-speed protocols, such as PCIe, Ethernet, and high-speed memory interfaces.
- Siemens Xpedition: xDX Designer, xPCB Layout, and/or Hyperlynx signal/power integrity.
- Experience with complex, multi-lamination circuit card assemblies between 16 and 32 layers
- Expertise with Xpedition's Constraint Editor System (CES), routing practices for high-speed signals, and guiding Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PCB layout and technical drawing creation.
- Experience with FPGA code development or software
- Experience with performing circuit card assembly-level architecture trades, and/or with system-level power architecture trades.
- Experience documenting technical topics and presenting to customers and senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to lead successful teams.
- Experience managing technical, cost, and schedule risks and opportunities.
- Experience with project management tools such as Earned Value and/or Agile Execution.
- Experience leading a program transition from development to production.
- Proposal development experience.
- Experience with intellectual property generation (patents & publications).
- Demonstrated mentorship of junior engineers.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
