Accountabilities:
- Lead the day-to-day management and development of a cross-discipline MEP design team, supporting employees across early-career and intermediate levels.
- Build and maintain a high-performing remote team culture focused on accountability, trust, collaboration, communication, and employee engagement.
- Create individualized growth plans, conduct regular one-on-one meetings, and provide ongoing coaching and career development support.
- Lead performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback conversations, evaluations, and development planning.
- Provide technically credible guidance by leveraging MEP expertise to evaluate work quality and support team members without acting as the project practitioner.
- Identify performance challenges, engagement concerns, and development opportunities while partnering with leadership and HR on appropriate solutions.
- Monitor team workload, support sustainable resource allocation, and improve workflows that enable consistent quality and timely delivery.
- Develop onboarding practices, team standards, and operating processes that help new employees successfully integrate and grow.
- Collaborate with department leaders and cross-functional partners on talent strategy, succession planning, and team development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records related to team performance, development plans, headcount, and required administrative processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent MEP industry experience.
- 5–7 years of progressive MEP design or engineering experience, including at least 2–3 years of formal people management experience.
- Strong background in MEP design with the ability to evaluate technical work, provide meaningful feedback, and communicate effectively with engineering professionals.
- Demonstrated success leading, coaching, and developing early-career employees and technical teams.
- Experience building and maintaining engagement, collaboration, and team cohesion within a fully remote environment preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, development plans, workflows, and administrative responsibilities.
- Excellent coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide direct and constructive feedback across different experience levels.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions while appropriately escalating complex matters.
- Proficiency with collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and other digital platforms supporting distributed teams.
- Ability to leverage AI and technology tools to improve team coordination, communication, and development processes.
- Experience in engineering, construction, mission-critical facilities, or related technical industries is preferred.
- Competitive annual salary range of $110,000–$155,000.
