About this Role
FiberTel is looking for an Materials Manager for our Rathdrum, ID location.
The Materials Manager will oversee the procurement, inventory control, warehousing, distribution, and tracking of materials used in aerial and underground fiber optic construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring field crews have the right materials at the right time while maintaining accurate inventory records, minimizing shortages, controlling costs, and supporting project schedules.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing construction materials within the telecommunications, utility, broadband, or OSP (Outside Plant) fiber industry and possess strong leadership, logistics, and inventory management skills. This position includes limited travel and a need for forklift qualifications.
Pay: $25-30, DOE
What You'll Do
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all warehouse operations, inventory control processes, and material distribution.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of fiber optic cable, conduit, handholes, vaults, splice enclosures, pedestals, hardware, aerial materials, underground materials, and related construction supplies.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure materials required for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction managers, superintendents, and field crews to forecast material needs.
- Manage inbound and outbound shipments, deliveries, and transportation logistics.
- Maintain inventory management systems and generate regular inventory and utilization reports.
- Supervise warehouse personnel, material coordinators, and inventory staff.
What You'll Bring
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, materials management, or supply chain management.
- 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience in telecommunications, broadband, utility, or OSP fiber construction strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with inventory management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of aerial and underground fiber construction materials and equipment.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
What You'll Get
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including; extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings. This position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and to the risk of electrical shock. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.
Physical Requirements:
The employee will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching and feeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee will need to be able to regularly lift 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
