The Logistics Operations Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the day-to-day logistics operations in Guinea, ensuring safe, efficient, compliant, and customer-focused service delivery. The role oversees operational performance, process improvement, resource planning, team coordination, and service quality, while ensuring alignment with company standards, customer requirements, and local market conditions. The Logistics Operations Manager acts as a key operational leader, driving execution excellence, continuous improvement, and operational scalability to support sustainable business growth.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end logistics operations, including import, export, domestic transportation, and warehousing.
  • Proven experience leading and developing operational teams in a fast-paced logistics environment.
  • Strong knowledge of operational planning, process optimization, KPI management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage operational performance and resolve service issues effectively.
  • Experience working with TMS, ERP systems, and operational reporting tools.
  • Academic education (Bachelor's/Master's degree), preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working in Africa and/or in a multicultural, dynamic environment is an advantage.
  • Fluent in French Language.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure end-to-end operational performance across import, export, and domestic logistics activities, incl. customs.
  • Maintain very high standards in service quality, on-time performance, and exception management required for mining business.
  • Oversee capacity planning, supplier performance, and vendor negotiations.
  • Manage local operator teams, motivate, train, supervise and ensure service level adherence.
  • Ensure structured, timely and accurate reporting and monitoring, incl. implementation, and use of TMS systems
  • Drive process optimization and productivity improvements using KPIs and data-driven analysis
  • Standardize and continuously improve operational process
  • Ensure fast and effective quotation processes and competitive pricing; personally owning larger RFQs
  • Develop logistics solutions in cooperation with clients, account owners and operations/finance stakeholders
  • Ensure proper risk assessment, act in compliance with laws, regulations, organizational requirements.
  • Identify market opportunities, new businesses, customers, and strategic partnerships.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers, strategic partners, and authorities.
  • Handle escalations and ensure long-term customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Extensive experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations in Africa.
  • Fluent in French language.
  • Solid commercial awareness and customer focus.
  • Willingness and knowledge to act hands-on, actively engaging in local business.
  • Ability to work in a high-demand, high-speed logistics environment (mining related projects)
