WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will be part of the Converse Materials Sourcing & Manufacturing team within the Global Sourcing & Manufacturing organization. This role partners closely with footwear material suppliers and internal stakeholders across Product Creation, Engineering, Sourcing, Costing, Quality, and Sustainability, and reports to the Senior Manager, Materials Manufacturing & Operations.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are hiring a Material Costing Analyst II to join our team! The ideal candidate will play a key role in optimizing our materials cost management processes, ensuring operational cost efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of relevant experience in material costing, footwear manufacturing, production, or supply chain management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power Query, or Sigma; Snowflake is preferred).
Project management skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to translate complex data into high-level business insights.
Experience investigating, capturing, and maintaining data within an information management system.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop solutions.
A team player with a proactive and flexible mindset, and a strong desire to learn and grow.
Strong sense of accountability, resourcefulness, and drive.
Ability to work effectively across functions and cultures in a matrixed environment.
Comfort navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities.
Ability to travel up to 5%.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
In this role, you will manage end-to-end material costing management with footwear material suppliers and maximize value capture through analytics. You will continue driving material cost efficiency initiatives to support Converse business growth and financial improvement by working closely with material suppliers.
Managing material cost data and analytics for bi-annual material reviews and negotiations, adhering to key timelines and milestones and ensuring material cost confirmation is completed on time.
Driving and participating in round-by-round negotiations with material suppliers from development through finalization to support product costing and margin improvement.
Working with suppliers to establish and maintain material cost structures.
Collecting material cost breakdowns from material suppliers and analyzing, interpreting, and challenging the data to identify cost improvement opportunities.
Supporting material market intelligence forecasting through data research and analysis.
Engaging in and supporting cost-saving initiatives to mitigate cost pressures and reduce potential cost risks.
Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements, and to gather input on costing process improvements.
Gathering relevant data and performing analysis to answer business questions.
Developing and maintaining dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
Identifying trends, patterns, and areas for improvement based on data analysis.
Developing and maintaining process documentation, including process maps, procedures, and training materials.
Facilitating workshops and training sessions to educate stakeholders on new processes and procedures.
Identifying and mitigating risks associated with process changes, and developing contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of process improvements and adjusting them as needed.
Conducting root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to address operational challenges.
Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
Providing training and support to team members on materials management processes and tools.
